    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article What is Inflation?. What can I do to improve? Thanks!

      Hi there,

I'd suggest reducing the number of those boring and generic images. Too many writers and bloggers rely on them. If they are not adding information to the article, get rid of them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen balloons used as metaphors for economic inflation.

Is there a more efficient way of writing this? "This means that the amount of stuff which you could buy with a dollar this year would be more than the number of goods you will be capable of buying with a dollar the next year since the cost of the goods would have risen up."

"This means the amount you can buy with a dollar next year will be less than the amount you can get today."

Always look for ways to cut unnecessary words so that your writing becomes clear and crisp. More words does not result in better writing, and can cause ambiguity. If your reader has to go back and re-read a sentence they tend to lose interest.

Dollar signs come before the amount: $150.00.

Cite the source of your images and their license in the image capsules.

      Hope that helps.

Thanks this helps. I will modify my article to cut down the unnecessary images and ambiguous content. As for the image sources, I search only for images which do not need citations and are commercially free to use. So I am guessing the source link is not needed here.

To me the article seems ok (and reminds me of my son's revision for his economics A Level exam tomorrow!)  The only tip I might be able to add is that I received an email a few weeks back saying that my article would be suitable for submitting to one of the niche sites if I made some changes, although the actual changes needed were not very clear!  That article contained some images very similar to the ones you have used here, with the cartoon man and dollar signs etc. I actually deleted those images and didn't replace them, aside from that I made extremely minor changes to the text. The article was accepted after that, so maybe it could be your images that are the main issue?

Oh maybe. I will try removing all current images and replace just a few of them and try. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
