Hello all, just a few questions about what does and doesn't provide commissions from amazon capsules:
1) If you click your own capsule and buy an amazon product, do you still receive your earnings?
2) If a reader goes to amazon because of your article and adds an item to their cart, but doesn't actually buy it until, say, a few weeks later, do you still collect your cut of the sale?
Any insights are welcome.
Hi.
Unsure about the question #1. As for number 2, you earn commission off of anything the person buys within 30 days of clicking your add.
Just to correct my initial answer to your second question. I double checked Amazon's affiliate policy on their site and it is 89 days after initially adding the product to their shopping cart that you have to collect a commission and not 30 days as I initially thought!
#1 Most definitely not and you risk losing your affiliate account. See link below:

It is totally against Amazon policy to click on your own adds OR have anybody who uses your computer do so.
I was unaware that if a person clicked on an ad and then didn't buy it for a period of time that you'd get anything off of it if they purchased it later. Others here say you can, but I have strong doubts about that. It has always been my thought that you get one chance to make a sale and that's when someone clicks on it and buys it right then. To click on an ad means you are looking at it, not buying it.
Now, if they come back later to your hub and do a click and buy on the same product, then, yes, you'll get a commission.
The good news is, however, if someone clicks on an ad and then starts shopping and buying, you get commission for every single thing they buy during that shopping session, even if they don't buy the original item. If you get lucky and get someone who is a real shopper, you can make a good deal of money on just that one click through.
The replies covered it. Though, you need to understand the purpose of having the ads. Sure, you make a commission but, most importantly, you are helping reader find what the need based on your article.
Definitely, most of my articles don't employ Amazon capsules, and the ones that do usually only have one item that's the most crucial to what I'm discussing. Thanks to all for their help.
If they place the item in their shopping cart, the cookie lasts 90 days. If they just click through, the cookie only lasts 24 hours.
What does click through mean here? If they click on your ad, look at it but don't add it or anything else to their shopping cart? Then if they come back and purchase the item in the add or whatever they were looking at within 24 hours you still get the commission? I hardly use Amazon capsules and when I do they are usually cut so I'm not up on this stuff. Thanks.
If they click through to Amazon from your associate link a cookie is added to their browser. If they return to Amazon and purchase anything anytime over the next 24 hours, the commission will be attributed to you
Thanks for explaining that. I had no idea that was how it worked. Maybe it is worth it to try to add an Amazon link every now and again.
I've given up on Amazon ads. I had a list of free crochet patterns and added a link for the yarn that was needed to crochet the item and I have used many times. That was removed. Since I have never added anything that didn't help the reader and every ad has been removed, I give up.
Unless you discussed that yarn at some length, with pros and cons, and gave a recommendation to purchase that particular brand, or the yard was special, hard to find or unusual somehow, it probably won't be allowed.

Hi MickiIf you've noticed I've not written any hubs recently, I'm on my vacations from University and thought of doing a 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. Rather, I've gone for a 30 Wizzley articles in 30 days - for a good reason: Their amazon Capsules are way better formatted - users feel like...

Hello Hubbers,Just a quick question for the more experienced hubpage authors:For maximum revenues, do you recommend AdSense and Amazon together on your commercial hubs or *just* AdSense alone? From what I read it seems the bulk of revenues are via AdSense, but I could use some direct input and...

I am almost ready to publish a new article, and I want to add two Amazon Capsules. I know how to do it the old way. But I saw on lobobrandon and a few other's hubs a different way. There is just an orange "A" and what looks like a hyperlink, and when clicked, it takes the reader right to...

For my first hub I asked my mom if it would be alright for me to do a review of her book. She agreed and I wrote one up. I intended to post a link from my hub to her book on amazon, however, upon further reading I read it is generally a good idea to have one or two hubs already posted before I try...
