I'm trying to use the Link Capsule and every time I save I get this message:

Ooops! There was an error saving this capsule. Please click EDIT and then SAVE to try again. This error will be reported to the HubPages engineering team. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

So I go in and then save again. Same error message.

I assume that maybe a link or two is broken, that's what is causing the error (I've got a big long list of sites and descriptions I'm copying and pasting). So I delete the ones I think are the problem. But when I save it comes up with the same message.

Not only that but it would appear that it's put some of links I've deleted BACK into the list. And doubled up on everything.

So each time I go through and delete the links, and think I've got them all, and save, I am seeing the size of the link list double.

Not sure what is up with that.

Anyone else having the same problem?

This problem was around with the old version too. However, I have not tried posting links after the update. But then, the links got posted alright even after giving the error message.

I'll ask Tom to take a look at it.

Make sure that there is an "http://" put in front of the URL.

Yep, I've got the http:// at the front.

Something strange is happening between the error message and then it creating extra entries. When I go to delete them it appears that when I save it adds the entire list again at the end of the existing list.

Currently I have three of each.

And with 38 links and descriptions that makes for quite a mess.

And I've still got 100 to add.

I'll sit tight until the problem is resolved.

Thanks.  I emailed it to Tom.  He'll most likely take a look at it Monday.

It looks like there's a size limit on the amount of link data we can pass back to the server (because of the technology the hubtool uses).  Jay has increased the allowable size to the maximum, which seems to have made the problem go away for now ... but it's quite possible that with 100 more links, it will fail again before you have them all in.

I'm going to look into ways to change how we pass this data along, but for now you might want to consider using a second link capsule for your remaining links.  (It's also possible that this error is specific to IE and you wouldn't have it using the FireFox browser, but I'm not sure about that.)

At any rate, you should be able to clean up the duplicate links out of the capsule now.  Thanks for your patience.

Okay, I'll split up the Link Capsules. Maybe do 30 or so, then slip an Amazon Capsule between that and the next one.

For the record, I'm using the latest Firefox big_smile

I'll go clean up the mess now, and see how I go adding the rest of the links as per discussion.

      Thank you.

I think it should be fine at your current size.  Just adding another 100 links might hit the new limit.  (And yeah, it looks like it's not just an IE bug then.  But it's so much easier to just blame everything on IE wink )

    Again, thanks for your patience.
