Why would I receive a comment from an 'unverified person' if it is someone who has regularly commented on my articles and who used to write here?  Should I assume that this person is no longer writing for HubPages?

Maybe 'unverified person" Is HP's version of the word "anonymous"? Just speculation.

Another, less likely, thought occurred to me. I'd have to see the comment, but maybe HP thinks it's a bot.

Just find it odd, the person has followed me for years and they still have the same name (unverified) no profile pic anymore and as far as I can see no articles anymore, strange.

Perhaps they were not logged in when they posted their comment?

I checked, they still have over 300 articles none of which are currently featured and also no activity which in truth I know is not true.

Actually, Kenna, HP works in the strangest ways, especially on niche sites. I appear to be signed into the site where my article is. I see a comment and answer it, but then it says something like the author has to approve my comment before it can appear. Then I notice that it appears after 5 minutes without my photo and treats me like a visitor. I realized that I'm not signed it. I then have to delete my own comment, sign in, and go back and approve the comment and do it all over. Kind of hairy, but that may be what's happening.

I see an orange comment sign next to my profile, I click on it there is nothing. I always have to wait about five minutes before it eventually appears in my inbox.
