Is there a standard way to say you are on holiday?!

I am going to be away next week and unable to respond to comments. I do tend to get quite a few so how do you deal with effectively being 'out of the office'? Should I put a comment on the hubs that get the most comments and hope that people read it or is there some kind of official way to do it?

It's never a good idea to publicly state that you will not be home for a period of time.  Too many hackers and ID thieves out there!  When I go, I never say anything.  However, I do carry a laptop with me and, as I am able, respond to comments and questions.

Find a way to maybe check comments once while away and reply to as many as possible.  Or you don't have to -  it's not the end of the world to wait a week to reply to comments.  (My parents also made sure even when we were kids we never made a point of telling anyone we were going to be away from home for a period of time.  They also left the radio on to make it sound like someone was home and had timers for the lights to go on and off at different points for the same reason).

An option is to thank everyone in one comment upon return, explaining why the delay.

Your parents were smart people. Have you done an article on their wisdom?

No but it's a good idea, thanks.  What to do if you think someone is following you in car or on foot, how to make sure no one could attack you at or in the car, etc.  They did have a lot of good advice.

Thanks guys, I am taking my laptop(just in case!) but was hoping to have a total break but probably will check in maybe once or twice and answer comments then!
