Why is this considered spammy? Also Owlcation editors allow it. Dengarden editors discourage it.
I think it makes the author look like a 13 year old kid yelling "like me, like me!" Any credibility that the writer has built up by demonstrating his or her expertise is gone after that.
I cannot imagine why Owlcation would allow it.
I imagine it's because the suggestion seems self-promotional, especially when there are social media icons on an article. The staff may consider that the icons are a sufficient prompt for sharing an article. I agree that the policy should be the same on all network sites, though.
People know they can share. So these requests don't add to "the user experience" or the bottom line
I agree with psycheskinner. Perhaps I should have added the word "excessively" in front of self-promotional in my first post.
Ok, I remind them anyway. It's the least they can do if I give them help and save them dollars on a troubleshooting article.
It's a grey area and open to personal interpretation, which is based on attitude.

I'm not even sure what that means. I have almost no links on anything, only 1 even has an amazon capsule, and I don't even know how to "keystuff" (it was listed on possible promotional items list). A friend told me maybe they think my content is generated by A.I. Well, it's not. I...

I created a hub explaining what my book is about and shared a link on where it can be found. It was like a small book report/review. I wasn't making remarks telling people to buy the book, I was simply throwing knowledge out there about a new book!
