    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article? What can I do to improve? Thanks! Beth smile

      Hi there,

Your title is the main problem, I think. It needs to reflect the content so that people know what the article is about. Your title is what compels people to click on your article link in the search engine results. It would be fine, excellent even, for a print magazine but it doesn't work on the web.

The second problem is that it reads like a blog post. You should consider adding in factual sections. In other words, on HubPages, it isn't all about you smile HubPages wants informative articles that answer questions, solve problems and offer advice to people looking for those things. As you have posted it under 'Diet and weight loss', then that should be the focus of the piece.

Thirdly, your intro is abstract. It's clever, yes, but your reader still has no idea what the article is about. You have to grab them by the throat, tell them why they need to know this information and why they should keep reading.

      Good luck.

Judging from your article and your bio, it sounds like you want to start a blog.  HubPages is not a blogging platform.  As explained above, this is a site for authors of magazine style articles of about 1,000 words.  If you want to start a blog, try Blogger or WordPress, both are free.

I agree with the previous comments so will try not to repeat points made.

Much of HubPages is about trying to establish yourself as an authoritative voice. Rather than starting with the "start at the beginning" joke, it might be more effective to summarize your experience as a vegetarian, and what question/query/issue that your article is seeking to address. Essentially, a good start is to say what the problem is that you are tackling and why you are a good person to answer it (due to your experience, education, profession, etc.).

There are a lot of important factors to consider when writing for an online audience, some of which have been mentioned above. Most of your traffic will tend to come from Google and so it's a good idea to plan around that to maximize it. There's a lot of good info in the HP Learning Center that helps with that. Getting traffic through social media can be easier than it sounds, and when it does happen, the exposure is often only brief. Plus writing for Google searchers does not stop your work from being promoted via social media.

If your work isn't being found via search engines, or shared on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. it likely won't be seen by more than a trickle of people.
