Views Up But Impressions the Same

My views are up about 15 % on this time last year, but impressions are the same. Most of my hubs are either science tutorials or gardening/DIY articles. Do impressions includes clicks and maybe it's due to a different makeup of readership now, maybe less students and more older people looking at home improvement articles? Or should it make a difference?

I just checked over the last week. My traffic is up 130% or so and impressions resemble this. I really have no clue if clicks help, I would assume they help increase the CPM you receive at the end of the day but not the number of impressions.

If you've got more older people looking at your hubs an educated guess would mean that your impression should go up as older people are less likely to have an ad block installed.

My impressions are a little more than a third of my total views. What about you?

My impressions are way up since last week too. The impression percentage relative to page views has not changed, about 40%. (So maybe we are still getting the 60%, less the number of pages that are blocked by adblockers?)

It's been a long time since I've thought about this and I've forgotten. Are we supposed to get 60% of the impressions and HP 40% from our total views or does the CPM reduce to take this revenue share into account?

Around 40% of the views turning into impressions seems about right for me too, more than a third but not by a lot. It does make a lot of sense if we do get 60% of total impressions. 20% lost due to ad blocks seems reasonable.

It used to be 60% but I do not think it states that in the newest Maven TOS. It does state that for Amazon though.

A good question for the staff even though it seems unchanged. I couldn't find anything at all related to the Ad program on the TOS just now other than the fact that we can sign up for it.

HubPages and GA views differ, but for the former, impressions are about 40% of views. GA views are always about 90% of those reported by HubPages.

Yeah, you shouldn't really compare the two because GA can be blocked with Ghostery, etc. I think HP gets their stats directly from server logs.

Exporting impressions and view stats, and importing into a spreadsheet and checking how the trend of ratio changes over time would be interesting. I started doing this once but got side tracked doing other things and never completed it.

I'll try doing this when I get the time. Will update here when I do.
