APA Title style

I just had an article edited with APA title style partially and incorrectly inserted into a couple of captions. One other caption in the article was not changed. I've changed all captions to non-APA style so as to be consistent. In my very long experience title styles have never been used in captions. What's the rule?

I keep it APA style for every title and subtitle, never had a problem, so it's probably safest to keep it all APA.

Are you talking about captions on images? If so, you're correct, I've never seen APA style titles for captions.

Yes captions to images or, if you are as ancient as me, they are called cutlines.

As Nate pointed out, this is not necessary. I think you may have run into an editor who thought he or she was doing this they way Maven wants.

Why? Why not made that information available to all? I think this maven editors would not said to be fair.

It is the editors for Hubpages but all are trying to follow the Maven template now, or at least what that editor thought was correct per Maven. I dont think this policy has even changed so there is no recent information on this.

I changed the image captions back to non-APA title style and just received notification that the article looks great with no alteration to my changes.

I can't begin to imagine where Maven plays into this.

This is not a Maven thing. Our editors will often format captions in APA if they are not complete sentences. For example, "My kitties" will be "My Kitties."

This is from our style guide:

"Captions are usually written in sentence case with terminal punctuation. Sometimes, the caption is written in APA title case and does not contain terminal punctuation. Again, it should be consistent within the article."

Seems that they like consistency, so I understand why they formatted them that way. In the article you are talking about, only half of those captions are complete sentences, so I agree that they should not all be in APA. But that's my opinion.
