    https://hubpages.com/literature/English … About-Eggs

It's just been rejected by Owlcation.  Anything I can do to make it acceptable?

Hi, Diana. The sayings are interesting, but your article is actually quite short. The article contains a lot of subtitles with very little text in the capsules. The extra sections that you've added about soldiers are entertaining, but they are aren't directly related to the topic of sayings and proverbs about eggs. If the sections were deleted, the article would be even shorter.

I think you may need to find a way to expand the article while sticking to your theme in order to get it switched to Owlcation.

      Thank you, that's very enlightening.

Aliciac, I have now expanded the article length by making the bit about soldiers and eggs more relevant, and including a section at the end about puns on the word "eggs".

Do you think that has improved the article?

I think that adding the section about puns was a great idea, except for the presence of the Amazon link. You have described your personal experience with the book, which is good, but the book's subject has nothing to do with the topic of your article. The link might be a problem.

Yes, I was a bit doubtful about the link, so will remove it - I was so excited about the book which I read this week that I just had to mention it, because of its precise relevance 90 years after it was written

Based on Linda's recommendation, I suggest adding two paragraphs about the derivation/history of eggs. You mention you love learning about languages and such, so why not delve into eggs? http://www.foodtimeline.org/foodeggs.html

Thanks, Kenna, I've taken on board your advice and added a little about the derivation and history of eggs - only a short paragraph, mind you, but it's done.

Just a few brief thoughts Diana, although not an in depth review. You've also received good advice from Alicia and Kenna.

You need to remove the hyperlinks to your profile, under the photo sources. These link back to Hubpages, which is frowned upon for niche sites.

There are a lot of single lines amongst the text, which clutters your article. These should be removed.

Your headings are mostly sentences and not headings.

You appear to have inserted your own copyright notice at the end of the article, instead of using the HP format.

Hope this helps a little and good luck.

Thanks for your help.  I've removed Hubpages links (although I thought it would have been OK for photo hyperlinks). I've deleted the single lines. Not sure what you meant by "Your headings are mostly sentences and not headings".  Re copyright notice, there was no option for "HP format".

        Hi Diana.

The copyright notice can be found with the disclaimer at the very bottom of your article. Just scroll down whilst in edit mode.

As regards the header comment, here is just one example for you to consider:

"There are also some good puns based on the word egg." - This is a sentence.

A header would be something along the lines of: "6 Egg Puns" or "Humorous Puns About Eggs."

        Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice.  I'll try to remember to use headers appropriately, although I haven't had a problem before about this - i.e. I have had things moved to Maven niches without having to change much.

Wouldn't it be more helpful to give saying for use in certain settings or to express certain concepts?  That would help ESL students learn to speak more colloquially

I don't understand what you are suggesting, as I thought I had explained how to use the expressions.  Can you give an example?
