What's up with the traffic?

Has anyone else noticed a sudden drop in traffic for the last 1-2 weeks? Usually, the traffic surges during the weekends, but it's the other way around these days. Whatever it is, it's a little disheartening.

On another forum, we've been chatting about the Google update. It could be that. https://hubpages.com/community/forum/35 … te-is-live

The traffic on HP is going up and down. Last week it was high but this week, the traffic is low. Well, that is what I have noticed on my hubs. The earning is going up though.

Had to go into Analytics because I don't pay as much attention to traffic as I do to earnings. Traffic had kind of gone up a little a couple weeks ago but my traffic has been more or less steady. I wouldn't say a significant drop.

Although I was going to say on another account, traffic shot up due to one article getting a good position in search results. I was trying to figure out if it was a Google update or what. Not sure.

Traffic goes up, traffic goes down. Nature of the beast. (shrugs)

It seems there are changes in Google search engine

Not sure what's happening. i thought it was just the summer drop-off at first, but maybe it's something else. My traffic is still much better than this period last year though.

There are no major changes to the algo according to SEO Round Table.

As FatFreddysCat says, one shouldn't get too worked up about short term changes. Even if it were an algo update, they can take weeks to unfold, and then there's all the adjustments after that.

There's been several Google algorithm updates recently. One the weekend before last and another on Wednesday. The Wednesday one didn't have many symptoms initially, but SERP volatility is now very high. The worst scenario is when traffic goes off a cliff and then it takes months or years to recover.

Thanks for posting! I noticed that I have a few hubs surging, which can be a sign of an algo change (boosted in order to check them out with traffic). I guess we'll see what happens. No reason to believe that traffic is going off a cliff at this stage. smile

Everyone seems to have a good story to tell about traffic in the past week or so.

Mine is the opposite. The day AFTER the announced site upgrade/ maintenance, my traffic crashed fatally.

    So far, about 40% loss!
