    Hello Everyone,

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a steep drop in earnings this month? Could that be because of low traffic due to holiday season?

Nehanatu - it indeed happened to me,most probably the traffic is low because of some other reasons.

Sudden drop happened early last month when Google algo updates hit.

Thank you for your response. For me it was first week of July - the sudden drop. I hope it gets better by August or so.

CPM also drops 20% or so at the start of each new quarter of the year. Have a look at the values in your ad program reports under "Earnings".

Thank you for your response. Yeah, I have been checking and both the earnings and the traffic - have been very low.

Further to Eug's comment, this is from 2018, but annual trend for CPMs normally follows a similar pattern. There's always a big drop from June to July.

CPMs will likely improve in August, but traffic will probably only marginally improve (due to seasonal factors) unless Google gives us a benevolent algo change.

This year we were hit by a "double whammy" as they say in the UK.

There is a big drop in traffic and earnings of course, I bet it is July 1st 2021 core update made by Google and has been rolling out for 1 week now, hope it ends in two week like the big G said.

I think the biggest traffic drop happened after the June Google core update. People generally seemed to lose around 20% of traffic from that one. Other updates (there have been many over the last 6 weeks) seemed to take away another 10% or so.

I was hoping (encouraged by a Google tweet/announcement) that the July Google core update might give us back some of the traffic that was lost in the June one, but that seems like wishful thinking now.

Most of the niches suffered dips in traffic in June. Levels have now stabilized but are lower than they were from Jan - May. It's pretty depressing to be honest. sad

July is always one of the worst months for traffic and earnings, but the drops this year are more than just seasonal.
