I have been ignoring DMCA alerts for quite a while now and have forgot the process.
What information are we seeking from the whois record? Who do we email exactly?
Is it the registrar email that goes like reports-abuse@____.com?
As far as I know, you're looking for the hosting company from whois. Let's say a website steals your article. You enter their URL in the whois record to find their host. Then you need to track down the host and find their DMCA rules and their email address for DMCA submissions. Good luck. I'm sitting with several plagiarized articles and it's frustrating.
Jana, my question:how do I find the whois address? I'm still learning the ropes.
Miebakagh, simply type whois in the search bar.
Hi Jana!
So when I go to whois record>domain the registrar is the hosting company, right?
And I need to send an email on the address they mention in the registrar box. Got it thanks!
It's not always the case... the registrar is the domain name registrar. The web host can be another company. For example, my registrar was Godaddy, but my host was Hostgator.
I always find it hard to single out the WebHost. Sometimes I send the DMCA to the registrar and they forward it on. In fact, I send the DMCA to every email address and form I can find

Web host? Registrar? Domain name? This is why I usually don't bother with DMCA complaints. I find the process so insanely confusing that harsh words are yelled at the screen and this could frighten the kiddies playing outside.
LOL, Rupey.
The real-life equivalent is the publisher of the book (the domain name registrar) and the library (web host) which displays it on their shelf.
Rupert, you make me jiggle, jiggle. I hope the kids does not think you're insane. For that would project their mindset on you for life!

DCMA complaint questionI pretty much know how to go about filing a DMCA complaint, but there remains one burning question. When you file a DMCA complaint, I've been told that you need to provide information such as your real name, email address and some even claim you must give your street address....

I have bits and parts of a hub, and my bio, copied. So far, I have emailed the web host thrice without any success. There's not even an acknowledgement mail.Is there anything else I can do? (I have also emailed Google and Bing.)

I found some of my content copied on anothe site. I put the URL into the WHOIS site to find out the information. How do I find the email address of the domain registrant? If it isn't obviously listed there, does that mean that information isn't available? The site that has...
