Hi. Please tell me exactly how to create a url permalink for creating new articles. I have been trying and what I was told didn't work. I was alert to I needed certain spacing and dashes and underscores and letters and numbers. The letters will be the title of articles. I so wanted to post some new articles! Everyone is looking on my hubpages and new articles must be posted now. Thanks! Why is this so hard, right here?

Usually the permalink is the same as your title, though it is possible to create a permalink different than your title.

By default the link is created when you give your article a title. So for example, "How to Create a Permalink" would be assigned the permalink hubpages.com/category/how-to-create-a-permalink

If you want to have a permalink different than your title you need to create the permalink first.

When you start writing your article you will see a large box for you to type in your title.

But immediately above it there is a link:  Permalink: https://hubpages.com/misc/ Edit

Select edit and enter your permalink. For example, you could have an address that just says hubpages.com/misc/permalinks

However I would caution against doing this. Most SEO specialists recommend having your keywords in your permalink so it is probably not  a great idea to have a different url than your title

      Hope this helps

What is the title of the article you want to publish?

You don't need to create a permalink for your article. Simply create the desired title for the article in normal language and the system will create the permalink for you.

I've created many articles for this site, and I've never created a permalink for them. I rely on the system to create the permalink from my title. You've created multiple articles, too. Did you create a permalink for them or just a title?

Both answers above are correct. But an additional thing to keep in mind is planning for future title changes.

When I publish a new article I often change the URL to not be as specific as the title. I still keep the keywords. That’s crucial for SEO purposes. But I give some thought to anything that might not relate well if I ever decide to change the title in the future.

Remember that the URL (permalink) can only be changed when you initially enter the title for a new article. That’s why it’s important to consider this before going past that step.

    This is a permalink.

    https://hubpages.com/education/Starting-the-Day

The bit that you created is: Starting-the-Day

You did that before, so you can do it again by simply putting your title in the title box.

Bev, I got that one. In effect, you're saying the same thing as Linda said above. Thanks.

I can understand the first answer completely. The second and third are a little technical. Majority of us writers do let the system create our url or web address. We don't worry about the tech side.

Yep. I don't know how to make it clearer.
