I'm new to Hub Pages and need help with using a table in my article. I have a table in MS word, which is a simple table with no fancy formatting. This table is part of the article content.
I just want to copy the table in to the Hubpages capsule (i.e. the table capsule). For some reasons this doesnt work. Its more like I have to type in the contents manually.

Is there a way I can copy a table from MS World in to the article/via capsule. Any guidance or tips on this would be appreciated.

I'd use a snipping tool and capture a screenshot. Insert as an image smile

When creating tables on Hubpages, there's an option to import data from "My Computer". The editor reads CSV (Comma Separated Values) files which are just text files with data in alphanumeric format, separated by commas which act as delimiters. A delimeter is a symbol that acts like punctuation for software, so it knows where to start and finish, hence the slashes and dots in web addresses. A CSV file has commas between values, so on import, the editing software behind the scenes can pick out individual elements.

Highlight the table cells in Word, then select Table > Convert Text to Table from the menu (I use a really old version of MSWord, so newer versions might have this function listed under a different menu option).

From the dialog that appears, select commas as the separator. It's explained in more detail on the Microsoft support page.

Now the problem is that you only need to save table contents, not any other text you may have in your Word document. Word won't allow you to save only selected text, so the workaround is to select and highlight table contents (which you've converted to text and will now appear as rows and columns, without the surrounding table)

Copy and paste the text elements to the clipboard.

    Open a new Word document.

Paste the contents of the clipboard to the new document and save it as a text file.

In edit mode on Hubpages, create a new table capsule and select the source as "My Computer"

Load the file you just exported from Word.

If your tables have few elements, it's probably more straightforward to copy and paste from Word to Hubpages, element by element. There's also a bug on Hubpages which causes it to stall and not read to the end of very long CSV files.

That was a wasted effort, it seems nimisrikitchen is no longer a Hubpages member.

Don't feel bad. Your answer and effort may help someone else.

Definitely not a wasted effort. I have been manually typing in tables for a month or so now, and had no idea how to import the information into the capsule. Thank you very much, eugbug!
