I have seen the © mark today. How to see who stole and copied articles and how to report them to DMCA? This happens to me for the first time. Thank you.
Hi Eric,
I think you have to click "c" to see where it has been copied. You can report DMCA here:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools … B&rd=1
What does it mean? I can't understand. It seems similar to: “Where can we see an authorized example of the work?” but DMCA says the URL that I will put there should not be similar to what I've quoted.
Location of infringing material: *
Please provide the URL(s) of the allegedly infringing material that you are asking us to remove.
If this notice concerns more than one copyrighted work, please input the URLs for the first work below. Then, click the 'Add a new group' link below to input infringing URLs related to another infringed work.
Hi Eric
The location of the infringing material is the URL of the page that has stolen your article.
The authorized example is the URL of your HP page.
Ignore the last bit.
You can file a DMCA takedown request with Google, but that only de-indexes the page and it won't appear in search results. It will still turn up in a Bing search or searches produced by other search engines (Ask, Yahoo etc.) Ideally you need to get the page disabled by the hosting provider.
So your next step is to find a website that checks which hosting provider hosts that website. Google "who hosts this" and you'll find several web checkers. Enter the URL of the page where your content is copied into the appropriate text box on the host checking website. The hosting company will be displayed. Let's say it's company XYZ. The easiest way to find out how you can report the copied content to hosting company XYZ, is to Google "abuse XYZ". The search results will allow you to find either a page where the appropriate email address is provided for reporting copyright infringement, or alternatively a page with a form for reporting abuse. If Cloudfare is reported as the hosting company, get back to us, because the process is a little more complicated.
Bing has a DMCA strike form too.

I always file both with Google and Bing, and I find the folks at Bing way easier to deal with.
It’s foolish that people really post copied articles, such lack of character, I guess it tells more about them than anything else…
The scoundrel behind DAWM has ripped several of us off, including myself. I tried to get my articles removed but ended up going round in circles so I just gave up. The user is hosted by a blogging platform that provides no way that I could find of registering a complaint. Frustrating
Does DAWM affect the performance of your articles? Thanks.
Eric, Is it Dawn or Dawm?
I am asking because when I google for Dawm. I get search results for Dawn. Can you please share the link with spaces? I believe, If it is Dawn it will definitely affect the performance of our articles.
They have copied half of my profile. I just searched my name on that site and list of my articles appear there.
There is a lot more. Something similar happened to me before as well that was also a blogspot site and upon filing the DMCA google removed the contents but it took approximately 3 months. Thank you for bringing this into notice.
It's good to file a DMCA but also try doing this.
Make a comment there. Notify them that we know they are stealing our work. Maybe, it will help. The time zone the site shows is 1 p.m. Somewhere from USA, I guess.
I just checked the site and a huge number of articles I have written on HubPages is there.
Let's leave our comment there. Notify them that we know they are stealing our work. Maybe, it will help and they'll feel shame. I believe, DMCA takes a lot of time
Yes, I left comments on about five of my articles…after that I kept getting an error message from Blogger that something went wrong. It is hard to file DMCAs for dozens of articles.
John, I think, try it after a few hours. May be it will work. I believe, if all of us will try doing it on that blog site they'll will be left with no choice and will have to remove our articles. You are right, It's hard to file so many DMCAs. I have made comment only on one of my articles there. I will do more tomorrow in the morning. I hope this will help.
On one of the ones who copied an article of mine, I found them on Twitter, and posted there about it, giving the name of the person, etc., and asked them to remove it. I got no reply, and it is still out there. I also put it on Facebook. Even public shaming didn't work.
Ok, been through and left a comment on each of my copied articles saying they were stolen and copied there without permission, with a link back here. Who knows if that will have any effect. Let's hope.
The funny thing is I don’t have the red copyrighted symbol next to any of my copied articles here on my accounts page (like Eric has.)
Me too. Lol! I think it's good not to have it. If there was a red mark next to all or any of those articles. It'd have been incredibly painful.
Make that © red. Lol! My articles have been copied to a number of blogging sites multiple times, however I am grateful to HP for their kindness in not marking that symbol on my articles. They are aware that I am unable to tolerate that pain. Lol!
The scoundrel copies our articles the same day we published them. It seems that he/she waits for articles to be published and intends to copy them or possible he/she uses a bot to auto copy them.
Yes, they are a true scoundrel. I hope they are not a member here. If they copy them the same day we post it sounds like they must follow us and get notifications when we publish.
I also thought the same thing but found it too hard to say. But this could be true. I agree!
If they are a member here, I suspect they follow many authors, but they only have few followers.
I have also shamed that guy by commenting on my copied articles, lets see what happens, but some people are pure shameless breed.
That site seems to be full of trojans and pop-ups and malware, or redirects. My anti-virus went into overdrive. Would strongly suggest not visiting it and just reporting it.
I believe there are a few pop-ups but no malware. We were trying to shame them with our comments. It's not easy to file so many DMCAs.
Going to be blunt. I highly doubt shaming will have any effect, at all, on this person. This site has been stealing for quite a while.
If you allowed the pop-ups to appear, you would have given the person some revenue, even if just cents.
Best is to just file DMCAs in hope that blogspot removes it. All you need to do is just copy and paste the URLs, and a standard complaint. It wouldn’t take 5 minutes.
Actually you are right, I guess. The owner of that site is displaying our comments with great pride. Lol! What more can I or anyone else here can expect.
The real problem is not those 5 minutes the DMCA takes. They have copied more than 40 of my articles. I have to copy & paste my Original URLs and then the URLs from that blogspot. Even so, removal of the contents is never guaranteed.
As Rupert previously stated, the DMCA did not help him on that site. This is so discouraging.
It's not a lot of work at all. If you're using a laptop or desktop, it will not take you more than half an hour.
And even if it does, so what? Do you really want this thief to continue getting away?
I'll just highlight this too. DMCA requests are not handled by the same person, especially for larger sites/host/Google. Just because someone else wasn't successful doesn't mean you'd waste your time.
Enough complaints might even get an entire blog removed.
Will do it today Thanks for giving hope. I greatly appreciate your time and support.
Blessings to you as always!!
Shaming does work sometimes, especially on social media accounts if they have one. It also works on hosting providers social media accounts and gets their attention.
I have at least 60 copied hubs. So I gave up years ago trying to take them down. Its a pain, but far too much work to do it.
I received 3 notices yesterday. I find the red c annoying, I wish we could check a box to confirm we know about it so it goes away. There are a few articles I've tried to get taken down and can't. I'm not wasting any more time on them, and don't need the reminder.
I ususally find copyrights before HP anyway, if they find them at all. Of the 3 yesterday I had already filed a DMCA for one of them. I doubt anything will come of it though.
I have wondered how HP scrolls articles. Most of the stuff I get notices for are random nonsense that contain mostly comments/Q&A with bits of the actual article or my name from foreign countries with no way to even file a DMCA anyway. I don't have rights to half that stuff. They never find my full articles that are on education sites being used by students/staff or worse being sold as files for papers or what have you. Those are the sites I actually want to know about. I found 2 just this week and they are generally really easy to get removed, because universities don't want that kind of material on their sites or being used by their students.
Facebook posts which HP has never found either tend to be easy to get taken down as well. Other sites are simply too much work trying to find the host. I usually just stick with Google or leave it.
Congratulations everyone here.....
The blog site has been removed. Hurray!! It worked!!! We did it!!!!
That's great news, guys! I was about to check the site to see if any of my work was posted there, but decided not to once I read CYong's comment regarding trojans and malware.
Great work, warriors!
Thank you!!! I believe, there were no malware but yes, a few pop ups. I am glad that the entire blog has been closed down. I wasn't expecting it so soon, though. Lol!
Hi, Thanks.
Can we ask DMCA to remove the account of that person who copied our articles or just the copied articles?

Usually I find a couple pieces of stolen article copy on different sites. Today, it's more than enough to make me comment here. HP notifies us, adds the complaint link, and the complaint file cut-paste copy but little else to build a brick wall against content thieves. For every click...

Someone here at HubPages has copied one of my articles. It was actually HubPages that added a copyright symbol letting me know. I flagged and notified HubPages of this but the story is still up. Why would I have to file a DMCA report when it's in house and HubPages knows about this violation? The...

There is so much of this going on that it may not be worthwhile to mention. Since I know that this site is not cooperative, I sent my DMCA complaint to Google. My hub is copied word for word with all the lovely photographs and even a link to another similar hub. It probably is my best hub with lots...

I'm so angry. Today I got the little red circled C warning me my content was stolen. A quick scan in the plaguirism checker showed that someone had copied one of my game guides word for word onto their site. Do they not realise that just adding "Source: (link to the LevelSkip article) doesn't...
