In this day and age it is unreasonable for any online blogging platform to ‘shut-off’ their comment section to webpage visitors and readers. How is the platform expected to grow and retain traffic?
I am a month old on HP, and so far my traffic and audience retention rate have been declining because of the complaints from some of my readers(who are non-HP members) that they can’t comment on my post, and they don’t want to be forced into opening a HP account, simply for the sake of commenting.
HP, if you are reading this, don’t get furious and block my account. Simply do the right thing for the sake of growing your platform and your community.
“Return the Comment Section”, let non-HP members express their opinions and views on our articles without necessarily opening a Hub account.
Some non-HP members and visitors may admire the fact that they can express their opinions on the HP platform, and may decide to open an HP account willingly.
The comment section can also be programmed with an AutoResponder, whereby any visitor, or non-HP member that wants to leave a comment, must drop his or her e-mail ID before doing so. This would provide you with more email subscribers.
Please HP put this into consideration, return the comment section, let’s keep growing Hubpages in quantity and quality.
Junny-just-come, as we used to say in Nigeria, for a new comer. HubPages is not a 'blogging' site. You got that one wrong completely. You're not yet aware that Hubpages' has undergoes three drastic changes for the eight years I'm here. You're right on what you say about the comment system. But you're out of point...completely out of point. Were you aware that hubpages is presently under 3 units? Hupages, Discover, and the Niche or Network sites? Seriously, the comment system is being test run at AxleAddict, a niche site. JJC, just that for the moment.
There is a bit of history to cover about commenting in the past years. Essentially there was not an ability to comment on the niche sites and Discover/HubPages site. They have been working on restoring commenting to those sites and began a test at the AxleAddict niche site. At the same time they changed commenting.
Take a look at the HP commenting announcement at the link below to get some info on it. It will inform you of the plans plus give you some of the feedback by other writers on HP.

I agree with you, its always nice to hear feedback from your readers.
True Amara, that is what makes writing interesting..
I don't think that a month-old account can tell you anything useful about traffic. And by the way, how are you getting the complaints?
The point is not so much about the traffic, but the ‘retention’ of traffic.
I write for Meduim as well...they have such limitations but with an indication for Visitors and non-Meduim members to comment and applaude your post when they sign in with their mails. HP can apply the same method.
If non-HP members or first-time visitors can’t comment on Hubs, what is the essence of sharing our article links to other social media platforms?
So that they can just read, and go! without sharing their opinions about what they just read?
If you share a new Hub link on your social media, do you think your social media friends and followers would likely read your new hub, knowing that they can’t engage with it?
They would just be a one-time visitor, because they can’t engage with what their reading....it is common sense.
So please before you reply to this thread, get the point....don’t read half and reply with prejudice, read well and respond with reason.
Hi, I'm "responding with reason".
1. HubPages is not a blogging platform.
2. HubPages is not Medium.
3. Comments have been turned off for a couple of years.
4. Hubbers have been complaining for years about this issue.
5. Nothing has changed due to those complaints.
6. Writing here for one month is not long enough to realize the many benefits of writing on this platform.
Please spend some time reading the forums before you post. Many questions have already been answered like this one.
If you are not happy with HubPages, you are free to take your writing elsewhere.
The rest of us, who have been writing here for years, are quite happy with HubPages and the income we realize from writing here, comments or no comments.
Hi,
Something is about to change , and I am glad my complaints and other complaints that came before me was not in vain...
see what I mean by reading this update
Bro, most hubbers write articles that can teach or help people solve their problems, and in most cases, they are not interested in the opinion of the reader.
And by the way, if you are into opinion or discussion kind of articles, you can consider Quora and the likes.
AlphaNation, I'm again respmding with reason. But these reasons I buy from the OldRose, tsmong, and Jan Saints. In other words, I agree with them. You'll notice that the. OldRose inform two of the points I mention. All that she said has been discuss here for over a year. Thank you and welcome to hubpages.

I have not been active for ages. I notice that all my new hubs do not have the "comment" section at the end of my hub. Or am I missing something?

Have you noticed that when you go to write a hub you now have to put in the comment section. What is up with that, Do people realize it is not there anymore? I didn't realize it at first. I went to comment on someone's hub, and no comment section. Okay, so who reads the 'announcements?'

Hello. I have written a science fiction and I posted it here. But my readers say they can't find comment option. Why they can't find it? Can anyone help me with this please?

How important is it to have a comment section on your hubs, or How important is it to respond?I was going through some of the hubs that belong to some of the top paid hubbers ( info found on the success story page) and a lot of those people do not respond to comments. In fact, many of their...

I was looking at the new layout on a hub and it made me think that the 'go to last comment' does not really show up as much as it might. I sometimes get comments from people who are not regular HubPage visitors and they might not notice this wording or know where to leave a comment, now.Would it be...

Why did you not include a comment section on your hub about the wedding songs? This hub would, I think generated many comments.
