I'm in the process of the obligatory update of articles and I'm finding several broken links that have not been caught by the automated system that sends out alerts.
I don't know what can be done about this other than engaging in the chore of checking your articles.
Rupert, the broken link is on your end side. Sure, you're not the only one affect. But before the alert system detected them, you've got to mend them right. Go do your dirty works.
It's that time of year again! In addition to the 300+ articles I have on HP that need to be updated, I also have 250 articles on my website that need updating.
Thanks for the heads up about the links. I will have to go back and re-check the articles I have updated and then going forward check all my links as I update the rest of my articles.
Yes. I just finished doing this a couple of weeks ago. I updated all the broken links to all of my articles, but in the process also realized that twenty of my articles were out of date, so I had to delete them. I'm down to only 85 articles now, but I used to have more than 100.
Hi Rupert,
I am doing the same thing, and it is a massive job with hundreds of articles. I guess that is the best reason to occasionally update our articles. Sometimes YouTube videos need changing also. The automatic notification system does not always catch everything. Yesterday, although all of my photos are credited when I publish something new, many in one article were missing. How that happened is puzzling. It took some time to credit them again.
It took 7 years for the system to alert broken links on my articles to be notified. Just a few at the moment not more than 6 on 56 articles. I'll take my time to mend things.
What do we do if articles are so comprehensive that they don't need updating? For instance I have a circuit theory guide about calculating the resistance of resistors in series and parallel. There's only so much I can say about the topic. Adding more information would just clutter the guide.
Eugene - I resort to subterfuge. After editing an article several times, there's nothing that can be done to improve grammar, spelling, etc. So, I switch a few commas around or change a word here or there, but leave the substance of the piece alone. This gives the article a new date and seems to satisfy Google. I expect they'll catch on.

Have noticed over the past couple of days, I'm getting lots of broken links from photos in my articles, so everyone may want to double check for those black little triangles.

The "Broken Links" notice is down. Going through my articles and editing this morning, I found three broken links in three separate pieces. There was no sign or warning on my account. I am concerned because what if there are more broken links? Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the...

Has anyone noticed a lot of broken links over the past week or so on their older, as well as some new hubs? Just wondering because I had at least 12 to fix over past week. Most of them were older hubs. But there has been two to three each day. It seems as though it has slowed down...

Why most of the Youtube videos carry the banner of broken links, while they all work.
