I left HP years ago and  I have refused to write on here since. I won't even edit an article anymore.

I had evergreen articles that were doing really well  - now, after HP editors with no knowledge editing my articles again and again to the point now some of their information is wrong and could become legally liable - for HP that is! ahaha

But I have some articles in my mind that I want to start - not at HP - so where else do you write for money?? (besides a blog)

Thanks and GOODLUCK! (newbies, keep your options open(

I would kind of try Medium. But I've not.

Yes, 'definitely a good site.' But 'Stripe' it's payment channel isn't made available to my country Nigeria.                                   Medium serves only European countries. Africa, Asia, the Orient and others are out of the equation.

            I didn't know that. I'm Sorry. It's unfair.

Most people are flocking to Medium.  People who have been on Medium for years and are unhappy with falling revenues are now moving to Substack.

Edit:  Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am writing on both Medium and Substack in addition to HubPages.  I make a lot more money on Medium writing about politics than I do on HubPages writing about gardening.

Writing about gardening on Medium would not work because there is no audience for it there.

Thank you, OldRoses. I'll visit 'Substack' to learn more.

I joined Medium last summer. I like the site but there are hoops to jumped through to get paid, like having 100 followers before you can sign up for payment. You also have to write consistently and get other Medium members to read your articles. So far, I've only posted 4, waiting for one more follower to reach 100. I decided I'd rather get paid for my work like we do here at HP. Good luck on where ever you decide to write.

You can repurpose HubPages content for Medium as long as you change the settings to add a canonical link. This tells Google to ignore the Medium article in search engine results, leaving the HP version as the main one.

As you only get paid for internal views on Medium, it makes sense to do it this way.

I was reluctant to begin with, but once I got into it, I find it easier to write for Medium than HP.

Thanks, Bev. Is that done once you add the link on Medium before you hit publish? I guess there are directions, right?

Couldn't it be easy for a writer on Medium to get 100 followers as on hubpages? Couldn't writing consistently at Medium be as easy as on Hubpages?

Vocal Media is somewhat kind of like HubPages. I wrote some things for the website as a test. Things I would not write for my blog or HubPages.

The website seems to focus a bit more creative writing I think.

I tried my own blog, I lost more money than I earned. Haven't found any success with Medium, either. I love HubPages, I wish I'd stuck only with it and saved myself a headache.

Wait, you guys are all writing on sites with traditional money? What about Hive, PublishOx, Read.cash, Blurt, and more? These are sites that pay you in crypto. I am surprised none of you'll have tried it.

I started writing on crypto sites thanks to a suggestion by one HubPages writer four years back. None of you'll tried it? Give it a shot. You'll love it. Of course, on many of those sites, the quality is not as good as Hubpages but there are good writers.

I already publish content to my blog and three other platforms. I think I have enough options for now.

I have tried read.cash but I could not think of much to write there that I don't already write for other platforms.

One of the things you quickly notice about platforms like this is most of the writers who earn money write about cryptocurrency instead of other topics. Writing about other topics may work but that is not what most people seem to be focusing on.

I don't have an interest in writing about cryptocurrency so I just avoid websites like this.

Besides, my knowledge of crpto ends at the edge of the wallet. And I don't go further as the system is easily target by scammers.                                      One had to do their personal research to get safe and put 'money' in the wallet. A system or person don't attempt that for you, or you're compromised. Happy hubbying everyone.

Why should one not be paid on a banking plantform or a payment process like PayPal?                                             The cryto is not an issue to most persons. The wallet is. Worst still, one can't configured the wallet with their traditional banking account. And worst still, not many online shopping outlets accept payment with the crypto, though its' an online payment procusor.                                         Today I publish a new stuff on HubPages. That's where I'm besides my blogspot. I'm good there and on Hubpages. It's for me to try Ox.

I'm not in it for the novelty.  I am set up to take payments in crypto but have yet to find a site that pays an amount of crypto worth the trouble.

I will be using Medium as it pays $14 to $15 per 1000 views on average it's really really profitable. Though there are many other factors that increase your pay i.e. reading time etc.

    1. eugbug profile image96
eugbugposted 14 months agoin reply to this

1c to 5c per minute of reading time by members. Medium doesn't pay per view.

Yes you are right I mentioned that after "i.e." I told a total average (after combining all the metrics)

        Edit: Followed you smile

I understand crypto about as well as I understand nuclear physics, which is to say, not at all. So crypto payment doesn't appeal to me.

  11. Savio Dawson profile image92

Yeah, starting with crypto writing could be a difficult business, especially, getting around the keys (the equivalent of passwords). But don't shun it completely because crypto is here to stay. Now, that last statement of mine could make me look like a fool in half a decade or a visionary. Anyway, I would rather have tried than not tried at all.

Besides, I am on Medium as well, and there I cross-post a few crypto articles. Writing on crypto was easy for me as I come from an IT background, though many crypto sites are today looking for non-crypto writers to extend their reach.

Either way, my fellow Hubbers, don't give up on crypto sites today, only to jump on the bandwagon later when the world is heading that way. Hmm... how did the last sentence sound? smile
