I thought there was an issue about linking back to the mothersite? It does give readers a better idea of the range of topics we write about though.

I agree with you, Eugene. However, apparently the rules are good for the gander, but not the geese. big_smile

      I though about that sometimes.

But as bravewarrior said, what's good for th gender is not necessary for the geese..

They must be truth in this sometimes, but not always.

I'm going to link back to a Discover article in that case if it isn't such a problem. Maybe Hubpages has exited from its long period of confinement in Google Purgatory,

Oh, wow! I am pleased about this. Finally one step in the right direction.

If you check the bottom of the page in the related articles section, every listing of another writer's name is linked backed to their profile on HP. So, every page has not just the one link to the author profile, but a bunch of links back to HP.

    hmm

I don't understand the reasoning here and I definitely don't think it is any kind of step in the right direction. Even back before Maven, the niche sites only had live links back to profiles when you were signed in. Search engines never saw them.

The only thing I can think is they didn't like all the low content pages on the niches sites, but I don't see how this makes things better.

Would love to hear an explanation from staff, just to understand what is happening. This is the kind of thing where it is easy to make assumptions and get worked up but we may not see the big picture.

Clicking the name of the author used to stay on the niche, going to a special profile with a list of that author's other articles published on that particular niche.

I see that they changed it now, as you pointed out, to go to their profile on HubPages. That’s not a good sign! It goes against every SEO rule that they were so adamant about in the past.

That worries me. It’s as if they hired a new team of people who don’t agree with anything accomplished so far.

I just sent Matt an email asking about this.

Exactly. I've said it before, it is hard to understand why HP seems to be making the same mistakes they made in the past and having to learn the same lessons again.

But maybe we are missing something? I'm glad you messaged Matt. Otherwise, it seems like staff never even look at discussions like this.
