Hi All!
I have never seen earnings in the range I saw posted for yesterday. CPM went down to 1.06 down from an average of 10.00. Is this a mistake? Anyone else seeing the same?
Yes. This has happened before, several times recently, and will be corrected I'm sure in a short while - a day or two? Strange to see such weird figures but HP sort it out eventually. Not sure why it happens?
Phew! Thank you for pointing this out. I rarely check earnings or CPMs so I had no idea this had been happenning.
You're right. Just checked and the CPM was changed to 13.65 so its adjusted!
CPM is determined by advertisers. Right now, CPMs are rising for me because the gardening season is beginning and advertisers are willing to pay more for ads on my gardening articles. CPMs fall during the winter for me because no one gardens during the winter.
I'm not sure how targeting users in other countries work with Hubpages and if the CPM would be worth it, but when it's winter for us, it's the opposite in countries like New Zealand. Could be a way to cover gardening year-round.
New Zealand seasons:
Spring – September to November.
Summer – December to February.
Autumn – March to May.
Winter – June to August.
Yes. It's a mistake, mine are in a weird pattern. HubPages usually corrects itself in a few days.
Thank you! Another reply mentioned that this has been happening recently. I had no idea as I don't check on earnings often. Now I know. Thanks again!
Hi, haven't posted on here in awhile. Question though. Is CPM still a secret? Meaning, can we still be banned for discussing specific cpm amounts? Just curious. Also I noticed my PayPal payment said I was paid from "Arena Platform" used to be hubpages, then switched to Maven, what the heck is Arena Platform? Have I been out of the loop too long? (Admittedly, I don't frequent the forums much)
I have to admit that I've never heard that discussions on CPMs were banned. If that's the case I guess the moderators will, at some point, take this down. I can't remember seeing Arena Platform on any of my statements so I'm afraid I can't answer your question
May well be due to the partial reporting that's been going on over last day or two. That said, a CPM can be that low. Impossible to say in an individual case without seeing the full stats and history.
I believe it's due to the reporting problems that, like you, another replier pointed out has been happening recently. The topic I write on (travel) has pretty decent CPMs even at its lowest (during the pandemic, so I doubt it's a case of low CPM.
QUICK UPDATE ON THIS!
I checked again today and Hubpages has adjusted the CPM to 13.65 so it seems there is in fact an error in reporting that is being fixed .
I guess what happens is that some ads have a very low CPM and this is what we see when earnings are only partially calculated. The final figure we see for CPM is perhaps an overall average value for a range of CPM rates for different ads or options offered to advertisers.
That's how I interpret it.
Plus it's basically an auto-generated figure based on traffic and earning rates, so if one of the figures is off, it gets badly skewed.
CPM is by definition a proportional thing, like a fraction, ratio or percentage. Some people on here seem to interpret it as an independent absolute for some reason.
That said, a CPM of $1 is not unusual for one of my accounts, which gets very high views but relatively low earnings. My feeling is that it's because the site traffic comes in a large part from southeast Asia and advertising rates are lower there than North America and Europe. It's just a theory, but it wouldn't surprise me if rates varied internationally, as people in some countries have more money to spend than others.
Absolutely! CPM differs depending on country. I write mostly for a North American audience so I have never had that low of a figure which made it a shock to me. It has since been adjusted, so I believe its a reporting bug like a few of the other replies pointed out.

Will they still be allowed to continue writing for the niche sites or will this site be diluted as our best writers and their work leave for a better deal?

The rate for the HubPages Ad Program CPMs are down about 50% over the past month, from around $6.00 on an average day in July to around $3.00 now. Is this a seasonal fluctuation or is it due to HubPages' recent traffic drop and advertisers paying lower rates? This certainly is not good...

Having been with Hubpages for getting on two years now, and having penned 83 Hubs, I think it's time I threw the towel in. Over that time, I conscientiously stuck to all the rules and guidelines, and was rewarded by views gradually rising to around 350 per day with earnings around $25 per month. I...

I was refraining about talking about this but it really is bad. Last month with adsense was my most profitable month, but this month so far I got 3 clicks...What could have made this change?-New Hubpages Layout?-April 1st Conflicker Virus? I was thinking these two things can't be so harmful to my...

This has been a problem for years now, really since the induction of the HubPages ad program and it's pretty much what has made me give on on HubPages (I used to write a lot, now seldom.)I have a hub that occasionally gets huge bursts of traffic as it's popular in social media. On those days, I...
