I an not sure whether the current Google's update, Broad Core Algorithm update, referred to as May 2022 update, that was rolled out yesterday, May 25, and which will run for 2 weeks, is the cause of people outside of U.S. not seeing ads on their hubs, and the others hubs on Hubpages and its vertical sites, and other websites.
If you've noted a decline in traffic, it's certainly related to the update. Some sites will be affected, and others will see an increase in traffic. Those sites that continually updated their content since the last update, 6 months, will benefit from the update. Those that didn't, will witness a huge loss of traffic.
Could someone do a research on the Google update, and ascertain whether it's been the cause of dissaperance of ads.
The update will be rolled out worldwide; so it won't be limited to a specific region, or regions. And this, is among other updates that'll be rolled out in the coming months as announced by Google last year.
So, having fresh content, or an updated one, is favoured by Google. I think that's why new articles appear on the first page of Hubpages' niche sites.
Check also if a snippet of your article is missing on Google search engine. Some people have reported tye dissaperance of a snippet of their articles while others can't see their articles on the first pages of the search engine.
It's a core algorithm update. I don't see why it would have any affect on the visibility of niche ads?
It may well have an impact on traffic. We'll have to wait and see.
I don't think the niche sites will be affected by the update as content are usually updated.
In the traffic sources section, my niche sites numbers are all over the place. Some of the ones that draw in bigger numbers have dropped considerably. I’m not sure if it has to do with Google or the ads issue on HP.
I think the drop in traffic is attributed to Google search algorithm update, referred to as May 2022 core update.
I haven't experienced drop in traffic on my articles on niche sites, and on Discover. So, the big drop isn't originating from Hubpages. On another note, the niche sites won't be affected considerably as the content are always updated which the current update will favour as opposed to those which didn't update their content since the last update - 6 months ago.
The ads issue is limited to the low earning since they're not widely distributed. The visibility of ads is, for now, limited to the US audience.
I think what I'm seeing is related to the ad visibility issue. I noticed the downward trend once that happened, and usually, the niche sites stay essentially the same despite changes from Google. One niche site usually sees 900 daily views from direct traffic and is now seeing 300-500, this isn't something I've seen over the past two years of keeping track of those numbers.
That's strange. It might be, as you've said, as a result of lack of ads visibility. Or, maybe, it might be as a result of something else. One of my article which used to get 800 views and above is now getting below 500 views before the ads issue, and Google update.
Below is the announcement from Google:
May 2022 core update releasing for Google Search
Wednesday, May 25, 2022
Several times per year, we make substantial improvements to our overall ranking processes, which we refer to as core updates. Core updates are designed to increase the overall relevancy of our search results and make them more helpful and useful for everyone. Today, we're releasing our May 2022 core update. It will take about 1-2 weeks to fully roll out.
Core updates are changes we make to improve Search overall and keep pace with the changing nature of the web. While nothing in a core update is specific to any particular site, these updates may produce some noticeable changes to how sites perform, which we've noted in previous guidance on what site owners should know about core updates:
We confirm broad core updates because they typically produce some widely notable effects. Some sites may note drops or gains during them. We know those with sites that experience drops will be looking for a fix, and we want to ensure they don't try to fix the wrong things. Moreover, there might not be anything to fix at all.
There's nothing wrong with pages that may perform less well in a core update. They haven't violated our webmaster guidelines nor been subjected to a manual or algorithmic action, as can happen to pages that do violate those guidelines. In fact, there's nothing in a core update that targets specific pages or sites. Instead, the changes are about improving how our systems assess content overall. These changes may cause some pages that were previously under-rewarded to do better.
We'll update this blog post again to confirm that the rollout of the May 2022 core update is complete. If you have any feedback about the May 2022 core update, you can post in this forum thread.

They did a core update around this time last year and it was bad. Hopefully, this one will be benign. I'm not noticing anything much right now as far as impact.
I don't pay much attention to the Google Algo update last year due to the prevailing covid-19 pandemic. But as far as I'm concerned, some writers including me experienced low traffic. So I took the trouble to updated all my article titles in last October. This year I update about about 20 out of 56 reads. June this year, I'll update all the remainder for good...a complete re-write of article body and sub-topic to make them look evergreen. It'll be a regular schedule mooth after month.
I haven't also witnessed drastic changes in traffic. Just the normal I experience - a slight drop and increase.
I hope too it won't be severe.
Yah. After Google's announcement of the completion of the update, we shall know to what degree our articles, or Hubpages and niche sites will be affected. Although I think not so much.

I have kept quiet about this for a while now, but after the Panda update I saw my traffic drop a little then normalize (as expected after any Google update). However since I made the changes required by Hubpages (and I assume changes enforced upon everybody else) I have seen steadily declining...

A few weeks ago, I posted some thoughts on why traffic is falling for many writers and what we might do about it. One of the things I considered is that massive rewrites and fresh articles may be the ticket to clawing back on some of these traffic drops. Here is some more food for thought on that...

Looks like Google made another algo change earlier this week. My traffic rose about 25% on my main HP account around this time, so I'm guessing the update was the cause. My traffic is still low by historical standards (down by more than a third from the start of the year), but I...
