Shout out to one of the editors

I'm not sure if any of the editorial staff read these forums, but I just wanted to give a shout out to the editor who's been going over my Spinditty articles recently. I'm not sure of his real name but he signs all of his comments "LD."

When I get the "a quick edit to your article" emails from him, he usually includes a quick comment like "I saw this band back in 1990, great show" or "This one was a fun read. This band rules!" which is a nice personal touch that I've never seen before.

This is the first time that I've felt like an editor actually knows what the heck I'm writing about. In the past, I've wondered if the editors roll their eyes when they get to my stuff, like 'OY, here comes the heavy metal nerd again...," because their edits tended to be either utterly unnecessary or totally incorrect (as in the time when my article on the hair band Ratt was inexplicably changed to "Matt.")

So hey, LD, I'm glad you like my stuff, nice to hear from a fellow rocker, and thanks for not tearing my articles apart too much, hah. Keep rockin'!

Can confirm. He's been excellent thus far with the edits. My only gripe with their edits is removal of all the Amazon links. Otherwise, good to go!

I don't even bother putting Amazon stuff in my articles anymore. It isn't worth the trouble.
I fully expect to get an email from Amazon one of these days saying my Affiliate account with them is being cancelled due to lack of activity, to which I will reply "No sh**, Sherlock." big_smile

Wow, how in the world are you able to survive missing out with those awesome 1 cent Amazon commissions?

    I'd like to second this.

I'm not sure how the editing system works exactly, but LD seems to cover a lot of the entertainment-based stuff (at least Spinditty and ReelRundown), and it's always fun reading his extra comments and stories. He tends to give good additional advice, too, even when the article is accepted.

I also get the feeling that the content I create here must seem so random at times, so it's cool when an editor seems to dig what you're doing. So yeah, cheers LD.

It sounds like it's Lance Davis. He's one of the newer HP staff.

I've had positive feedback from Lance, too. It's always a welcome change from the usual generic emails, when that happens!

I've noticed that there's a whole lotta editing going on generally. That's very good news, in my opinion. Before they hired the new blood, it was taking months just to get an article considered for the niches.

Hopefully a major clean-up with help with the site's traffic.

It is great to see an editor getting a rap. It is great that LD adds that personal touch…a small effort like that makes a big difference.

I have also noticed a lot of editing happening on my wanderwisdom articles, and the comments and edits are really insightful and well directed. I guess this is a great thing that has been happening recently.

Yeah. It's one cent not one dollar to miss. So don't bother.
