I have written dozens of articles about Queen Elizabeth over the 11 years I have been writing for HubPages. Now that she is dead, should I go through them and put the verbs in the past tense? Even without doing so, I see that people are reading the old articles anyway. I just wanted your thoughts.

In my opinion, you should do so. I think when a writer discovers that the facts mentioned in an article have changed, the article should be edited. It’s good that you are still getting traffic, but some people may think “Doesn’t the writer know that Queen Elizabeth is dead?” and stop reading. I think you should gradually go through the articles and edit them.

AliciaC, you are exactly right. I will update the articles over the weekend before Queen Elizabeth's funeral on Monday. It will be a fun project for me.

yeah very true, in my opinion i would have answered her that way too . but i wish there was a special tool to put texts into the past tense here in hubpage while editing. lets say what if you had 1000 articles about queen elizabeth II ? it will take one like alot of days.  hope you getting my point.

I agree with Alicia, you will need to edit them. You do have a grace period, though. I don't think that you have to do it immediately.

However, as your articles are garnering lots of attention, you may want to edit them soon anyway, just to make them as good as possible and get as many views as you can.

Paul, I value your opinion and I was hoping you would reply. You did and said exactly what I was thinking. I will update them over the weekend before Queen Elizabeth's funeral on Monday.

The task won't be boring because I enjoyed writing them over the years. Updating them will be a fun project for me.

I have an article on the pros and cons of monarchy, which is currently getting more views than it usually does, though nothing dramatic.

I also write for NewsBreak and am posting a lot of articles about Queen Elizabeth that are getting thousands of views. I have begun to update old articles on HubPages that continue to get views. Thanks for your previous suggestion.

I think readers can look at the date and realize the article was written while the Queen was still alive. So, in the short term, you are fine.

However, editors will eventually do a impact edit of whatever sites your articles are on, and at that point they will ask you to update the articles.

Or, if they aren't paying attention, they will make small changes that will alter your dates and then, as others have said, it will look like you don't know what you are writing about.

So, you may as well get started updating them now. Otherwise, eventually you're going to have a lot of work to do on a deadline or else get your articles kicked off the niche site.
