Please take a moment to respond/comment if you can:

If you use an adblocker, does it block Amazon capsules on the niche sites?

I am asking literally about your experience, not what you've heard. What do you see?

With adblock on, I do see the Amazon capsules. Other ads are blocked.

It's different with each browser and ad blocker.

For example, I have Firefox set to a "strict" protection level that blocks ads. But the Amazon capsules still appear. However, the Avast browser blocks Amazon capsules when ad blocking is enabled.

I don't use an ad blocker on Safari, so I don't have an answer about that one.

As a solution for some articles, I place both the Amazon capsules and in-text links in a reader-friendly manner. I never had a problem with editors snipping those. I guess that's because I follow all the rules with using Amazon ads, and they probably realize why I'm using both.

Using both methods helps assure readers see the link in case the capsule is blocked. That's crucial since almost half my HubPages revenue comes from Amazon ads.

I like using capsules in many cases because they have the additional advantage of showing the image of the item. But I need to be careful with placing my content in the Amazon capsules since that content will be missing if the capsule is blocked.

Having said all that, many times I just use in-text links to avoid all these hassles.

Thanks Glenn. Are you saying you use a text link and a capsule for the same product?

I agree about the effectiveness of images , and I think the orange call-to-action button has an strong impact too, depending on the product and context. But not if they get blocked, of course.

That is correct, Eric. I use both in-text and capsule for the same product so if the capsule is blocked, the reader still has the link to click on, if desired.

Even though I noticed that some ad blockers (not all) block the capsules, I still like to use them for the reason you mentioned.

I go one step further—I push the orange call-to-action button down by adding content within the Amazon capsule. That causes the button to appear below my discussion of the product, which is more conducive to achieving results. I only do that in a few articles, but basically I’m experimenting with various methods.
