I'm not here to criticize anyone. I am not a champion, and I make many mistakes. Like many of you here, English is my second language. I reported two articles yesterday, but I won't name the author because I don't want to get into any issues. However, I feel compelled to discuss this in the forums. Even though the individual made a silly blunder in the title of both of their pieces, I can see that they reached Discover.
My question is: what is the minimum requirement for an article to appear on Discover? Is my reporting actually helpful, or am I wasting my time?
I'm not sure, but I know the articles that appear on Discover can be seen by a larger audience around the globe—aside from HubPages! It makes me wonder whether the increase in low-quality articles on Discover is the cause HP sites don't rank well in search engines. Whereas sites like Medium, on the other hand, rank at the top of search engine results even though Medium authors are not even paid for organic traffic.
Thank you!
As far as content goes, Discover ranks independently, as do each of the other niches, so the obviously poor quality of many of the articles in Discover has no effect on the other niches.
Medium.com ranks reasonably well in many cases, but Medium writers don't usually earn anything from search engine traffic.
Thank you for your kind response, Paul. I have a question: why don't HP's network sites backlink to HubPages when we click on the author's name? HubPages is the primary platform from where the articles get distributed to HP's network sites. Do HubPages have a bad reputation on Google or other search engines?
I asked because I read about it in the forums a few months ago. I can't exactly recall which forum post it was. I specifically mentioned Google because my articles frequently rank higher on Bing than on Google search.
Network Sites have a better ranking than hubpages.com. We want the Network Sites to stand independently when being evaluated by search engines. We try to limit the number of links to hubpages.com.
I'm not sure how my first post disappeared, but if anyone wants to join in the topic, I was asking: What requirements should an article meet to get up on Discover? I actually reported two low-quality pieces yesterday and spotted them today on Discover. Not sure if reporting truly helps!
Is it because of low-quality content on Discover that HP and its network sites don't rank high on search engines, especially on Google?
Whereas sites like Medium, on the other hand, rank at the top of search engine results even though Medium authors don't always get paid for organic traffic.
Reporting articles helps. It may take a while to get to them because of the large volume of articles we have to go through. Keep in mind that Discover has a lower quality threshold than the HubPages Network Sites.

I notice I still have some articles published on Hubpages.com. What's the story about those? Are they visible and indexed on the web? The URLs are appearing in a search, so they must be.

Hi all. As indicated in last week’s press release, parts of The Arena Group have begun using AI to assist with content creation. Although several news articles have erroneously referenced the use of AI on PetHelpful and DenGarden, AI is not currently being used for staff content creation on any of...

I know there are several issues with this. Firstly, the network sites can't link back to Hubpages because of the reputation of the site and it being sort of a taboo domain to link to as regards Google (Is this a permanent problem, or does a site "get out of jail" eventually?) Also some...

I have been looking at the traffic on my 35 hubs and the ones at the top of the list are almost all on the network sites. Those are the ones getting the most views, and I would expect that those are the ones that are earning the most money (although we still don't have any of those stats). So, my...

Do network sites provide any advantage to our articles? If so, how?A number of my articles have been moved to various network sites, but some articles are linked with hubpages.com/discover and some with just hubpages.com. Are the non-network ones suffering some kind of disadvantage? Thanks — Lyndon
