Hello, fellow hubbers!
I'd like to ask for your help on my article entitled, The Dahmer Controversy and Sensationalizing Serial Killers. While writing it, I saw a warning about Ads disabledt for the article. I enjoyed writing the article and I really want it to generate some income too from the ads.
No violence or any gruesome description is mentioned in the article, although there are words such as murder, killed, crime, etc. I also read the FAQs but I do not know what to change or remove to remove the warning.
It says, "WARNING: Advertising has been disabled on this article based on automatic content filters"
I might need some fresh eyes, I hope you can help me figure out how to make this okay.
The Dahmer Controversy and Sensationalizing Serial Killers
Thank you in advance!
Note: I just publish it so that you can see it, but I haven't really done proofreading it.
If it's an automated function, i suggest writing directly to the editors at team@hubpages.com .
I've gone through your text too and I think you highlight a different aspect of pop culture. Anyhow, this should rank well if transferred to a niche sight, given the current interest in the Netflix series.
Hello, CYong! Thank you for checking out my concern and the article as well. I was really passionate on the topic and I got a little upset when I saw sa warning haha.
I already wrote on the "contact us" button, is that the same with the team@hubpages.com?
Hi Justine,
I wonder if there is some odd glitch going on. I was about to publish an article about dog licking behaviors and got that same warning even before considering hitting "publish."
I checked if I used any potential banned or problematic words, but nope! I even used the word "bottoms" rather than b*tts when talking about mother dog licking behaviors directed towards their pups, LOL!
Very odd! I guess this is something to email staff about, especially if there seems to be no plausible reason for the article being flagged. Staff have cleared up this issue nicely for me for similar happenings in the past.
I thought this all disappered in the days of Google Adsense. I will have to reconsider how to word the article I am working on about the an*l glands!
Oh no, good luck with that Dr. Mark! I guess there's no way around that.
Four 'o clock and 8 'o clock glands? Fishy glands? Scoot-inducing glands? Nobody would ever search those.
Hopefully, if you get the warning too, staff will help get it sorted out and you get to use the correct term. These filters can sometimes act in ridiculous ways.
I got a laugh out of that. I am picturing a client calling my receptionist "My dogs 4 o´clock gland is swollen and he is scooting all over the rug. What do I do?"
Indeed, it's odd. I even removed phrases such as "dumping bodies" and "missing victims" but the warning is still up. Maybe the filters are just that sensitive and we do need to email HubPages for it.
May I ask how long did it take before they got sorted it out for you? Thanks for sharing btw.
It was a long time ago, but I think no more than 2-3 days. I will keep you in the loop since I will be emailing them too today.
They just emailed me back, and the moderator removed the flagged. Thankfully.
If you have an issue with ads in an article, it's best to email team@hubpages.com for us to review.
I doubt you could make the article suitable for advertisers, tbh. It's impossible to discuss the case without describing the crime to some extent.
Your article is pretty tame and inoffensive, but I think it's because advertisers wouldn't want their products associated with the topic of serial killers and their victims.
I do not know how HP is going to host a site on true crime then. I just read her article and it is pretty mild.
Probably. You have a point in there. I emailed HubPages already. If I have not unintentionally violated anything, I will probably keep the article publish anyway even if without the ads. I wrote the article to make a point in the first place.
I still hope that it will be sorted out though.
Strangely, I've never had an issue with ball cocks on Dengarden.

Why do you think serial killers go unnoticed for so long?It is so strange to me that serial killers in most cases go so long without being noticed, why do you think that seems to be the case?
