Studies show that the brain of serial killers are wired different than ours.  Is your brain wired to be serial killer?

How many people get brain scanned to show they are a serial killer before they go on their killing spree?

A lack of body count is enough proof for most of us to know we are not killers.  A more valid question might be do you now whether you are a psychopath/sociopath?

An interesting idea at a time where some of the most popular television shows depict criminals who do terrible things and we herald them. I'm looking at you, Dexter, Breaking Bad and Weeds.

You mean it is genetic, innate or a product of childhood life experiences and social upbringing?

Perhaps it is a combination of the above mentioned. The researches are still undergoing about this. Although there are different kinds of serial killers - those who are on missions to save something, mental sickness like they are told by somebody to do it etc., some just want to have control over others, serial killers for sex, or they want to acquire property. Some psychologists did have profiles of a would be serial killer. They are looking into aggression in childhood, abusive to animals, family set up, being a loner and many more.

You might want to link to the studies.  The ones I read show there is a genetic component to psychopathy (.3-.4) and a contribution of psychopathy to crime--but none of it is written in stone.

I have ADHD so I KNOW my brain is wired differently, but I'm not a serial killer, not yet anyway.  Now my oldest daughter on the other hand, she has real potential and I suspect she's a true sociopath.  I think it runs in her father's family.

I thought The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy and movies would have ended people's fascination with serial killers.  But obviously, not.

I know my brain is wired to serial something - not sure if its kill (meaning murder)  or kill (meaning make you laugh til your teeth and pants fall off)  but either way, it could be a problem - so I take my vitamins and use what I know about anger management - and self-restraint - or have I already  -  huh?  oh.

    gotta go now

True story - several years ago, my mom mentioned something about a serial killer in front of my really young niece, and my little niece looked at her in amazement and said, "He kills cereal??"
