It would be great if editors could work from the same playbook

This is sort of an add-on to the issue Eugene brought up regarding header tags, though it is applicable to many other situations.

I don't want to get into specifics and I definitely don't want to call out any specific editor because, for the most part, they have been fantastic lately. However, I want to reiterate a point I made in that other thread due to a change I spotted in one of my articles this morning.

Can all editors please work from the same playbook when it comes to best practices for SEO and article layout?

There are times when an editor's personal style and opinion come into play and times when things should be clear-cut. If HP has determined this header tag arrangement is best, then ALL EDITORS should follow that concept.

This doesn't seem like a tough ask and it would be very helpful for many writers.

When you try to follow the advice one editor gives you and a second editor does something different it is hard to feel like updating articles is worth the effort.

Eric, I hear you, and unfortunately, this is all too common in any writing arena unless we have one consistent editor. It's tough, but I write for several clients with multiple editors. This happens occasionally. It's an annoyance!

I would email the staff and point out the discrepancies. Hopefully, the wayward editor or editors will get corrected.

I think that maintaining editorial consistency is essentially a management issue. I believe that HP do try to achieve consistency and are largely successful. There is also a degree of subjectivity with some editing decisions.

However, it is kind of annoying when things goes wrong, especially if you have a lot of articles and are trying to get them all to follow the same standards and guidelines.

The feedback I get via email is usually always enlightening but I would love there to more stuff in the official forum announcements and newsletters. There can't be too much info for me!

Sometimes it can feel, rightly or wrongly, like we only hear about changes in approach retrospectively.
