Hubpages is OK, but I really miss some of the things about Squidoo - the active community forums, ability to leave comments on lenses, some of the funny, non-product articles (anyone remember GuyB?), the not quite so many ads on all the articles...
I guess the thing I miss the most is people being able to leave comments on the articles. The interaction with the people reading my articles was a lot of fun. Active community is a very close 2nd. Maybe I'm just getting old and sentimental.
Yes, you are right. I wrote on simily and medium and comments give motivation and engagement.

Miss khan. I will follow you if you are there with same name
Although I wrote lens on Squiddoo, it was then being transfer to hubpages. So it was not a surprise that I miss the community.
I really enjoyed my time there and the interactions.
Sometimes I'm going through old articles that were transferred to HP, seeing if any could still work, and I see the word "lens" used to describe the article. Makes me smile. But only for a moment.
I miss Sqidoo too although I was not there very long. I also miss Bubblews.
I was so busy writing for hub pages. My priority was hub pages. I do not remember Squido.
No - I am really missing Squidoo this week. It was so much fun and more free.
I never Squidded (is that a word?) so I have nothin' to compare HP to.
I wrote on Squidoo years ago. I did like the layout and the ability to create lenses on different topics.
I don’t. I never really liked those colours on Squidoo. Didn’t make much money either. It was like a few cents every month.
Although Squidoo had its flaws too, I mostly miss the way more friendly interaction between readers-writers and writers-writers. I really felt connected with people there, I've made friends for life on Squidoo. Fact is that I had a lot more fun on Squidoo than I have on HP.
Had not Squid was transefered to Hubpages, I would have had experienced and understand the community better. I never interreacted with a writer or reader there.
I miss HP before the Squidoo acquisition. Before that we had fun conversations, that went off topic to hilarious heights. Many clever people had interesting perspectives, Beth, Mark Ewbie, Will Apse, Dale and many more, too many to list, no longer here, brought wit and asides that kept the forums lively.
Then came the acquisition, followed by the Thought Police inquisition. A time when Squidoo leaders took offense at Off-Topic comments, and complained bitterly to the HP powers-that-were, demanding that comments be removed or commenters be spanked for going off topic. The Fun Police won. Some folks were banned, others left for brighter horizons.
And those who bent the HP Forums to their image of what a proper forum should be, are no longer here to appreciate their handy work.
I wasn't around HP before they acquired Squidoo, but the way you describe it sounds like the Squidoo I remember. I never made any money there, but I had a lot of fun. HP as it stands now feels more like running on a hamster wheel. Or maybe like panning for gold - it doesn't pay, but once in awhile there is enough gold dust in the bottom of the pan to keep me trying. I wish I could find a platform that was more community and less grindstone.
I miss squidoo a lot. I used to post science specific content on HP and Squidoo in past.
Now back here after like decade I suppose. I miss the HP forums, Squidoo lenses. Some nice people I have met on HP which I didn't find outside in real life. A lot of HP friends have their account closed, not even their websites out. Some expired as I took followed up to their social media. Time does fly.
Now that ChatGPT is out, I wonder if real people would have a voice anymore. Scary times.
Yes, I really miss Squiddoo, as I reflected on my miniature time there, before hubpages swallow it up hook and sink. Now, I recalled I forgot an article or two there because I don't remember either the email or password I use back then. Seriously, I was really inexperience online at the time around (June)? 2012. And now that I'm in control of my mantle, I'll contact team@hubpages with a question of retrieving the story.
The mention of Squidoo takes my memory back to those years when I started my writing career whilst a writing student. I never wrote on Squidoo after having gone through several reviews.
My memory went back to the writing revenue sharing sites back then. They were many, and a handful of them were paying well. The most memorable ones were Suite101 and Helium. Unfortunately, Google's algorithm Panda led to their nonexistence.
I remember Helium, after the Panda update, came up with vertical sites. There were zillion ways of earning on Helium - views on published articles, reading Helium articles and the weekly contest's that had three prizes. Miss that age when there were many opportunities to earn from one's writing.
Really interesting. Now I realize it's the Google panda content search that make hubpages swallow up Squiddoo.
Google Panda, Content Farm Update and many small algorithm update killed many bloggers. It's extremely hard to create blogs without face now. With face some people can get social support in KoFi and Patreon and even through some affiliate links. I don't think those "write hub and earn income" days would come back.
It was a good time 2010 to 2015, I met a lot of Hubpages users who were in their 40s, 50s when I was in 20s, yet learned a lot from those writers. And it's 14 years since that time now. Imagine Hubpages survived 1 decade and moving to another.
I do miss people, opportunities, competition among friends, discussions on earnings. Now people can't even flaunt 100 USD earnings from Adsense as it could get wiped out next month. So much uncertainty.

I have a few hubs i've written and they are mostly based on gaming, the market, possibilities of the future, but most of them stem from questions friends and family ask me about the technology market. How can I get more comments on my Hubs? I need inspiration to write hubs!

PROBLEM: Whenever I write a hub on a controversial subject, a number of people create new, fake hub accounts solely for the purpose of posting negative comments and feedback on my hubs and/or threatening me anonymously.
