I am not sure if I am missing something or not, but I was following this thread "I was rejected for AI-generated content" and wanted to post a comment there when I noticed it was closed to reply.

I remember Paul Goodman and Jerry Fisher complaining their articles were pulled down due to the use of AI-generated text; I found this article on Discover; it was published about 15 days ago but wasn't taken down. Although it mentions that the text was generated with the help of Chat GPT 4, it guides how writers can use AI.

    Thanks in advance! smile

This does seem very hypocritical, Misbah.  We need a clear clarification if HubPages have changed their stance on the use of AI.

We didn't change our stance on AI. The article has been unpublished.

Thanks, Matt! I appreciate your response, but don't you think it's pretty discouraging how the article stayed live on Discover for 15 days? smile

One thing I know is that AI spells the death knell for freelance writing. I have gone from having more work than I could handle to about one job a month.

I agree, John; it is challenging! I'm so sorry to hear about AI's impact on your freelance writing career. sad hmm

I was going to say that I thought it was because the writer said that a person should write their own article even if they use AI to help them. Then I came to the part that said the “bulk” of the article was created by AI and that the article was only “slightly” rewritten by the writer. That does sound strange.

The writer also mentioned that they used ChatGPT4, a paid version of chatgpt; I wonder if HubPages' automated system doesn't catch it as AI-generated text.

I read thoroughly this thread. I have a few affiliate marketing websites that are doing well. I've used WordPress to develop these sites. Despite what people, even what Hubpages thinks, AI, or chatgtp generated content is NOT an automatic disapproval from Google. Most of my sites were generated (product descriptions, "about us", link descriptions and even full code developed by just typing how I want the page to look) using AI with the Elementor pro plugin. Site(s) are ranking well and getting traffic. Google doesn't hate AI generated content, just depends on how it's delivered. If Hubpages is totally against AI generated content then it makes sense why traffic is declining. Sorry to say it, but (sadly enough) AI and chatgtp is what the future is and I would encourage HubPages to get with the times. AI is not perfect. I always need to edit what is produced, but it sure makes "writers block" a thing of the past, especially when I'm trying to come up with product descriptions for things I'm promoting on my site. Guess what? I've also copied what has been written by AI against several plagiarism checkers. NADA..Zilch.. no content matched. Think about that!

You seem to be saying that those of us who write our own articles should just give up and use AI if we need money. What a sad situation. Writing our own compositions with no help from AI can be very satisfying as well as a way to earn some money.

No, not saying that. I use it as a tool to help. I think AI will eventually cause the dumbing down of society.

Thank you for clarifying the situation, Rob. Your last statement is depressing.

The truth of the matter is that the monitoring system on HP is fallible. It's repeatedly pointed out yet HP does nothing to improve the situation.

It's sad that it's been brought up multiple times without any significant improvements. Let's hope they address this issue soon! smile

We do plenty. AI is evolving and our detection systems are evolving with it.

It is sad Linda. I'm near the end of my writing career, but I'll keep scratching out my little offerings until all publishing ventures succumb to the siren call of greater profits that can be made from not paying writers even the pittance they pay us now

I'm contemplating becoming a WalMart greeter. But, as I hold that business in the greatest contempt, I wouldn't last long.

My profile photo is an old one. It was taken many years ago. I really should change it, but I hate having my photo taken. Like you, I will continue writing, but there may come a point when I have to stop.
