    Hi everybody

I think the latest announcement from Medium will have repercussions on many other sites relying on original content like Hubpages.

This is a quote from their latest newsletters to authors:

"Accounts that have fully AI-generated writing behind the paywall may have those stories removed from the paywall, and/or have their Partner Program enrollment revoked.

Please remove all AI-generated writing from behind the paywall by May 1st to remain compliant with this policy, and stay active in the Partner Program. We define AI-generated writing as writing where the majority of the content has been created by an AI-writing program with little or no edits, improvements, fact-checking, or changes. This does not include AI writing tools such as AI outlining, or AI assisted fact, spelling, or grammar checkers."

Something to bear in mind to avoid getting kicked out from Hubpages!

Yes. AI content is getting more and more defined. To clarify, is this quote from the Medium newsletter? If so, how does it relate to getting kicked out from HubPages?

Kenna, to get the answer start writing AI generated contents.                                        But as Matt has warned don't ever come near it when you're at hubpages.

        Hi,

Yes the quote is from the latest newsletter sent by Medium to its authors.

I thought it would be useful to share here, even though we haven't received a similar communication from Hubpages. We are seeing quite a few HP accounts getting banned because they used AI to publish hubs quickly.

I'm not on Medium. I would like to be. But because the payment system is Europe focus, I didn't  put in an application.                                      That said, AI writings now posses a great demerit to online writing. For that reason, I don't ever quote virtual grammar checkers and dictionaries again.                                                 But it's sufficient for me to read and research online, and express my contents in my own words.                                Hubpages' Matt has advise our friends to keep away from AI bot. Stupid AI.

Yes, that was what I suspected too.

95% of the reawakened forum threads are spammers, she hadn't written any articles, and was commenting within a couple of hours of joining. All signs not to respond.

Eventually Google probably won't even index any content that's not totally original. I can't even get a blog indexed after four months, even though the posts have my angle on various subjects and there are 40 articles. I'm thinking anything that's not written by experts will just disappear from the rankings. Not sure how they'll establish expertise though.

Yes and I was also reading that articles containing affiliate links are getting penalised, too. We keep having to rethink our content strategy!

As far as I know, the Medium decision, which comes far too late for my money, has no impact on what happens at HubPages. AI has always been verboten here.

An author posted this on Twitter: "You know what the biggest problem with pushing all things AI is? Wrong direction.
I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes."

That's probably best. That's what AI should do.                                       It's even excellent for robotic AI to teach kidder garden.

HubPages has been totally anti AI right from the start, unlike Medium. Medium’s stand shouldn’t have any impact here.

If all AI content is being prohibited and Google hunts down all AI content, preventing it from ranking, shouldn't that be good news for us, given that HubPages is totally anti-AI?

The big problem though, I guess, is if AI becomes so advanced and sophisticated that it becomes undistinguishable from human content.

Unfortunately there have been cases here on HP of authors not getting hubs published for suspected AI content when in reality their content was fully original. Technology sometimes fails at checking itself.

No. Whatever form AI took, they'll be 'advance' software to fuck it out.                                        Otherwise, creativity will no longer be reality.

Its weird but I tried chatgp and when I compared it to my writing yes, it is so different. But it is so smooth for want of a better word.  I have read some things that friends have written and possibly because you know the way they write.  You can tell it is not their work.  What are other people's thoughts.
Also they can detect ai written articles so what is the point?

    1. theraggededge profile image74
theraggededgeposted 13 months agoin reply to this

I've been able to spot AI-generated text by eye as there are often giveaways in phrasing. But it is getting harder. The big thing is that there are never any errors in spelling or punctuation. And even experienced human writers usually make tiny errors.

And when you see posts in the forum like, "i need help getting articel featured" and then the article is word-perfect, it immediately raises a red flag.

That's very true - the thing is that now you can train AI to mimic your writing style so it will be more difficult to detect AI content in the very near future.

Ebay has an AI feature for creating descriptions of products from the listing specs.  It writes charming content, but it also makes errors of fact based on the information it garners from the specifications.  I think that is weird; I would have thought getting the facts right would be its best ability.

I don't use AI for content writing anywhere. I write my own for eBay.
