      Initially, it means you're the owner of the stuff, in which your name was tag with. The date tell others the year you wrote the read.                                    If the story you wrote was violated without you knowledge, and permission, than the date and your name will protect the article.                                              In summary, copyrighting your articles with your mame and date at hubpages is a proof that you're the owner, and it protects your work(s) against theft, or plagiarism.

    Because if someone steals your article, and they do often, you have proof that you were the original creator. This will serve you well in any copyright disputes.
