Is there any editing happening? Are new articles moving to niches?

I'm curious if anyone is receiving editing currently. I'm also curious if new articles are moving to existing niches. I see that some articles have been moved to Pethelpful, but what about the other niches? I have content I want to attempt to get on Delishably, so I've been waiting to see if the site will survive or get tossed.

I think Delishably will be one of the last niche sites to go. I would go ahead and give it a shot, Andrea.

I just had a new article moved to HobbyLark.

I wonder why all the Feltmagnet stuff couldn't have gone to HobbyLark - where it actually belonged?

HobbyLark makes way more sense than FeltMagnet. I think that’s where most of those articles should have gone as well, if they’re keeping it.

The only problem I’ve had with the name is it sounds close to Hobby Lobby.

I've had a number of articles moved to Owlcation recently.

I believe that Delishably, Pet Helpful, and all How To Do sites will survive. They won't be reverted to Discover.

I've noticed that Holidappy hasn't been updated for about a month. I have a feeling it's going unless the editor has been on vacation. Normally my party articles are moved there, but nothing happened with my last article.

Hoping this is the case. I think there is a case to be made for Delishably, Pethelpful, DenGarden, and Owlcation. I get letting niche sites go that have low authority scores. Ones that are decently healthy can survive though, especially if their format is improved.

I have seen new articles added to a few niche sites, but Delishably hasn't been one of them. According to the homepage, July 30th was the last time an article moved there.

I have not received any edits to old articles, nor has staff fixed reported articles with misinformation.

Looks like LetterPile was updated on August 8th and Owlcation on August 9th.

My 450+ articles are still there on Owlcation but like many writers here at HP, I'm nervous for the future. I'm already reaching out to other specialist sites just in case HP falls off the cliff edge.

I've had two or three articles edited in the last three weeks, so for some of the HP team it's business as usual?

I was hoping Owlcation would make the cut as that is where the vast majority of my views/earnings come from, however this year has not been good for me at all. I've lost roughly half my traffic with no recovery in sight.

I know I saw new articles on Owlcation, and if they are editing old ones maybe they plan to keep it around at least for now.

My theory is if Owlcation goes then everything will. I believe it has the highest authority score on SemRush. Originally we were told things were moving due to the low authority scores on niche sites.

I'm surprised it would have a higher score than Pethelpful, but then again they did rid Owlcation of the awful news section.

None of my Discover articles have seen any benefits, and the newly moved ones have all dropped in hubscore. I realize this is likely arbitrary, but I still found it ironic that a move to Discover (the only change to the articles) resulted in a lower hubscore. If Discover truly had a higher rating shouldn't our hubscore benefit from it?

I'm still perplexed how Discover can even rank higher, given the lack of editing and quality content. Maybe Barbara was on to something when she said Google is full of sh*t. Not only are they full of it, they'll gladly promote it.

It is infuriating to me that the HP layout promotes the newest content. Every time I open Discover I'm slammed with AI, plagiarism, promotional spammy content instead of quality articles. It'd be nice if staff would at least curate or remove misinformation and plagiarism when articles are reported. I know most people are coming from search engines, but I'd prefer to not look like I'm promoting garbage content.

The lack of quality and curation on Discover is the main thing that bothers me with this move so far. I know spam has always been around to an extent, but with the advancements in AI and the changes with the layout, it's more prominent than ever and these types of article's shouldn't be in videos and promoted on homepages.

With an editing overhaul maybe Discover could become something, even if short lived. In it's current state though, I don't see how it will benefit my articles.

My Owlcation articles saw a bump in traffic today, however I'm sure it will drop again tomorrow given how this year has been trending.

HP needs to take another look at the articles that are languishing on the original HubPages format and move the ones that have had multiple comments up to Discover. The number of comments indicate how the articles were received by readers - and Google loves articles that inspire  community interaction). Since comments have been removed, those which are stuck in limbo could very well do well for TAG and the authors by bumping them up to the (supposedly) better performing Discover site. How 'bout taking another look at that, HP dictators?

I noticed too that Delishably hasn’t been updated since July. It’s one I don’t think really fits with Discover. I was fine with moving over my PairedLife articles as they were struggling, and I think the niche site was dying ever since the pandemic kind of shifted things when it comes to relationships… I never really felt like that site recovered after that.

I've just had two new articles promoted, and I use the word carefully, to Owlcation. This seems to indicate its continued survival.

Given the dearth of forthcoming info, I agree that this is perhaps the best way to tell which niches aren't moving.

I'm not sure whether it matters if we know what's going to Discover, though, as the truth is that we have zero control over the situation.

They will do what they're going to do and at some point, we will find out.

So far, it's made zero practical difference to me: Discover or no Discover, traffic and earnings are dire.
