I wrote a little hub about Ganymede, the seventh moon of Jupiter, just lately. I also included the Greek legend of Ganymede...there is more than a little hint of homosexuality in this legend.
I got quite a few emails from the Christian contingent, though no direct comments on the hub itself. They all said, among other things, that mention of homosexuality is banned on HubPages because HubPages is a Christian network. They were outraged.
Is this true? I really didn't mean to offend anyone. It's a myth, where the moon got its name, that's all, a very old Greek legend pre-dating the time of Christ.
Is this a Christian network? Are any mentions of homosexuality banned from the Hub content? The Hub Pages staff didn't censor my hub in any way.
This is entirely untrue.
If I were you, I'd forward those emails to the Hub team, as that is a blatant smear campaign
Absolutely not. HubPages is open to everyone and is not affiliated with any relgious group or viewpoint.
Again, absolutely not.
I went through the log of emails sent to you through the HubPages contact form, and didn't see any message like that of which you speak. Please do forward these emails to me at team(at)hubpages(dot)com with "Attn: Maddie" in the subject line, and I will get to the bottom of this immediately.
i never thought it was a christian network, as most hubbers to me always seemed more like atheists if you ask me. because I've seen a lot of christians get ridiculed and made fun of a lot in forums, so I always assumed that the majority of hubbers here are atheists. however, that's just my opinion. if you ask me, i think you should ignore those e-mails as they're just idiots that have nothing better to do with their time.
HA!!!!!!
If it was wrong, HP staff would let ya know.
I am offended by your Hub not just because I am a Christian, but because I am Greek.
My people were not homosexuals.. it's just that things got very lonely without TV
This gave me a real laugh out loud moment. Apologies if it wasn't meant in fun. But still - I laughed.
And re the OP - good to know that we can be loud and proud *whatever* on HP. I'm loudly, proudly green. But only in color. I don't think I could claim to be eco friendly. I like driving too much for one thing
Good good. Funny how we write 'lol' sometimes but your comment did make me do exactly that
Evening Cags. I saw you sneaking in through the window BTW. If you rummage around, I'm sure you'll bump into a few of the usual suspects.
You know ... the marmalade filchers
i dig your astronomy hubs.
forward the emails to the HubTeam and let them sort it out. that is reeeely uncool of them.
I read that hub of yours, it was perfectly fine. Nothing objectionable at all. I'm sure this has nothing to do with HP staff....has to be some other party involved.
Thank you very much for the clarification, Maddie. That answwers the question completely. I was afraid I did something wrong and offended the sensibilities of the traffic here. I do see other content that isn't particularly a Christian viewpoint, and sometimes the heated conversations between Christians and atheists on the forums get a little out of hand...
I'm glad mentions of homosexuality aren't banned on HubPages. That's good news to keep an open mind, always.
I wonder how these emails got to me if not through HubPages? There were seven of them, altogether, with mostly the same message. I've deleted them; otherwise I'd forward them to you, Maddie.
Quick! Check your trash folder! I'm really, really eager to find out who did this.
Unfortunately I went off the net, logged off my computer while the HubPages was down for maintenance, right after I posted this forum. My computer empties my DELETED email folder immediately upon logging off my computer; they are gone, they don't even make a stop in the recycle bin; I checked.
I guess we just have to let this one go. It's good that everyone knows now this HubPages IS NOT exclusive to any gender orientation or religion or anything.
Yeah, there is that. If you get any more of those emails though, you know I'm eager to see 'em
Yes, indeed. Now I know who to go to. Thank you so much for your response.
I think you will never see one of them.
It's not like these people, if that's what they are, would write again. Don't you think ?
If writing about homosexuality is banned on HP, Then I'm in biiiiiig trouble hahaha.
I just became a fan of blatva. That wonderful "Dream" hub!

I'm very timid when it comes to change if the change is not one of my own choosing, even if it is good change. Moving to HubPages was an upsetting experience for me, mainly because I felt the place we moved from would find a way to mess it up or that HP would treat us like illegal aliens.Only...

Hi Hubbers,I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my Hub What The Media Doesn't Understand About Millennials. What can I do to improve? Thanks! Is it because it's too opinionated?

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

When the new rules were brought in, we were told we'd receive a warning email if a Hub was non-compliant.And so we did. But I've just had a Hub unpublished which was not on the list. It was for a link to a "prohibited site". I got no advance warning, and as it's...

I cannot get my two hubs republished and the reasons they are suggesting that is the cause make absolutely no sense to me. They say it's misleading tags, or titles or categories. I have rearranged them every way I can think of to get in compliance and they keep rejecting them. I...

Could someone help me understand about back links?Where do you add these and how do they work? Is this different from the hublinks?
