Silly, read some hubs by the top hubbers before you start bragging! LOL, you don't want to alienate anyone. I started off like gang busters too, but there is a lot of work to do to be among the heavy hitters.

Two really good forums to make friends are The Hub Tribe is Forming and Lets Be Friends.

This can be considered stalking, but I like stalking, so it's okay. i have created a monster on caffiene, I can't even find him. He is currently posting in three threads I think. It is Jman, and he is in Lets be friends and my first fan and I think Nelle Hoxie's one year anniversary thread.

You can't miss him, he's a big smiley face.

16 hubs! I dont know how you are doing it. I have only churned out 5 and it has tuckered me out already.

That's because you're being meticulous and detailed, and have enjoyable hubs to go to. I just visited the one about Nordic Cod Liver Oil, and you provide good links, pictures, and information. Not everyone else is willing to go through the hassle of quality over quantity. Keep up the good work!

Nickshamrock, I appreciate your encouragement.  I want to give readers information, something they can use.  Hopefully I will make the 30 in 30, but I won't crank out a bunch of junk hubs just to say I did it.

karlscabin, writing 23 short, badly designed Hubs is nothing to brag about.  You've got some good material there so you've got potential, but quality is more important than quantity.

HubPages is not a blogging site.  A Hub is not like a blog post - it needs to be a good bit longer. At least 400 words, and as KCC says, the big money-earners write over 800 words. You may need to combine some of your Hubs to make them a decent length.

Also, read Darkside's Hub on Capsules and fix up your revenue capsules so you don't have huge white gaps between paragraphs.

umm...not to shatter your ego here, but i had over a hundred hubs in my FIRST MONTH when i got onto hubpages, but you don't see me bragging.  Of course, those hundred hubs were movies reviews I've written on other sites like yahoo, myspace, and msn that i did for fun when I was a kid, that I just copied and transfered to hubpages.  yeah, i've been reviewing films since i was 13 years old. And no, I never plagarized anyone, as EVERY film review I've written has been done by me personally, and nobody else.

The point is hot shot, your not as special as you think.  just be humble and not brag about  things.  besides, nobody likes a guy that brags or feel the need to feel superior.

karlscabin:  Most of the seasoned hubbers will tell you that a hub should be at least 800 words and most try to shoot for 1200 words.  Your hubs are very short.  To develop a following you may want to consider lengthening them.  Once you do that, you'll find that you can no longer crank them out as quickly.  Anyone can pop out a lot of hubs if they're only 10-20 sentences long.

That's true. But I guess it depends on the goal of your hub. Most of mine are fairly long and detailed, and I tweek them from time to time. I'm up to 16 in a few days. However, I have 2-3 that are extremely short and just for fun, like my ultimate movie guide and my "greatest crap for your apartment" hubs. They did take a lot of work, but they aren't the best of quality. So far, I haven't made zilch, zip, nadda from any hubs, but I've been having a blast writing 2-3 a day. It takes about an hour or so to make a fairly qualified one so far. I'm still experimenting and I know I have to do a bit better, as in add videos and such, but the point is I'm having fun and I get to write about stuff that I enjoy tongue

accomplishing 16 hubs in one week that are not advertising so to speak or short would be a big deal but you are bragging about hubs that are short, advertise and such ... not tryin to be mean but i wouldn't be so cocky unless you did 16 quality hubs

Thank you for kicking my highnie.. I will be fine tuning all of them... never ending process, I guess. I have never blogged, ever until here, 2 weeks ago.... Never played around much on the 'puter, other than looking around, which I have here, and that makes me want to do, and re-do.
But I originally decided to try because it said I could make a few pennies, MAYBE.....
BIG DEAL... A few stinking pennies..... Most of what I read says this will take time..... I been here two weeks.... I made 28 pennies so far.... So yes, I can make the pennies.... I must write and formatt better..... So that I can make enough pennies in a year for an ice cream cone... yes, an ice cream cone would be nice.....

lol i have been here for 5 weeks and made 40 pennies ... think i can get some gum with that but gonna wait it out on ice cream lol

but fine tuning would be good

You've still never blogged, karl, because HubPages is not a blog.  I'll say it again in case you missed it - HubPages is not a blog. You need to write articles like you'd see in a magazine.

I think you can do that, and if you do, you'll eventually earn a lot more than stinking pennies. I earned about $5 in my first three months on HP and I'd written 55 good articles.  It just takes time for things to start moving!  These days I cash out every month.

Thats encouraging Marisa to hear you say you cash out every month. Thats a blessing, and certainly helps me to try to keep hitting the mark.

More money will come in if you fine tune those Hubs.

Hubpages is not a blog, but an articles website!
