        well, it's worth a try...not a technique per se but you do mash/cut the herbs and tie in cheesecloth and place in the water to steep for flavor....

          I remember it vaguely from an old PowerPoint presentation on brewing a few years ago. Came across it while researching the subject. But, I hadn't heard of it prior to that!

          Then again, I'm not much of a cook, unless you count microwavable items...tongue

    Steeping is when herbs/items are put in water that has been boiled but then taken off the heat.

    Decoction is done while actively boiling.  I have done enough herb work I should have known that.
