Ready for today's clue? One guess per participant.

A substitution of a Nordic liquor for a Slavic one in this supposed hangover cure gives this drink a Scandinavian flair.

Angela Harris won this: Bloody Dane or Danish Mary

      Strong Akvavit or aquavit.
Its name derived from aqua vitae, the Latin for "water of life" and it contains 40% alcohol.

I only look at the first guesses among the participants, and among them, I haven't seen the right answer yet. Yes, it might be the longest so far in this contest, although in HubLove a couple of years ago, I believe one went on for about 6 hours (that was really, really hard, though...)

          Habee said akvavit

Jason Menayanposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Akvavit is not what irenev17 guessed. She guessed Bloody Swedish Blonde. Akvavit is just one of the ingredients in this drink, apparently.

No, one is an ingredient in another. Just like tequila and a margarita are not the same thing; one goes into the other.

    Bloody Dane

    1. Jason Menayan profile image60
Jason Menayanposted 12 years agoin reply to this

      Correct!

The other correct name would have been Danish Mary, answered by PrettyPanther, but, unfortunately, after she had already guessed another answer.

The Bloody Dane or Danish Mary is a Bloody Mary, except the vodka is substituted with akvavit (aquavit).

Congratulations, Angela. You have 3 bonus entries in tomorow's Daily Drawing.
