    Hi all,

    OK, I created a tracker URL.  http://hubpages.com/my/tracker/mailxpress1968
When people click on this link and they decide to sign up is this the way I get referrals?  Thanks so much everyone.

That's just the link to the page that lists how many people have clicked that tracker.

When you want to track or refer someone, goto the page that you want to give them the link of then insert the code either manually:

      http://hubpages.com/(underscore)_mailxpress1968/hub/YOURHUBNAME

Or by clicking on share at the bottom of the hub. Clicking share automatically lets you select a tracker to insert. This is so that for instance one tracker you might use on facebook, another in emails and a third on your website. You can tell where clicks come from.

I believe darkside has some good hubs on the subject.

        Hi Wrylilt,

I am at my wits end.  I just can't seem to grasp how to create a damn referral link.  Thank you so much for your help.  If need to be I'll write Hubpages myself and ask them to send me a referral link I should use.

Your referral link would look like this:

          http://hubpages.com/_mailxpress1968/profile/mailxpress

You guys are great.  gqgirl keep trying.  I have links to Hubpages all over my work and eventually I would like to get some referral because down the road you earn from referrals to.  I figure Hubpages is on of my favorite top three websites and I should use the proper referral link.  Thank you so much everyone.  I'm going to correct many referral links on my websites.

    Go to your profile at

    http://hubpages.com/profile/mailxpress

Go down to the bottom of the page

    Click Link To This Page

Choose your tracker, and copy the link.

That is the link that will get you referrals for people who sign up after visiting your hub.

Here's Darkside's Hub that explains the whole thing:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/tracking

A tracker is just a word, not a URL.  Your default tracker is a meaningless jumble of letters and numbers, but you can use proper words or your name.

Basically, you insert your tracker code, with an underscore in front, after ".com/" in whatever the URL is.  So, say I had created a tracker "Marisa" and I want to use it in the URL above, I'd do this:

    http://hubpages.com/_Marisa/hub/tracking

By the way, I very rarely refer people to my profile.  When promoting, you want to promote the individual Hubs which are relevant to whatever forum or venue you're in.
