Sorry Brie, I can’t help you, I write on topics that don’t get that much views.
Write things that other people genuinely want to read, not what you think or guess they want to read.
Whats the best way to know what people want to read about? I'm always taking a wild guess which doesn't seem so good.
You can do keyword research, but I find that can be hit and miss too - because you're likely to get the same answers as everyone else, which means you can end up targetting the same subjects and having too much competition.
On HP, I think there are two ways to go. One is to write about what you love - then even if it's not making money, you've enjoyed the experience. The other is to write Hubs on a wide variety of topics, then watch how they perform. Notice the ones which are earning you the most money, then write more Hubs on those subjects.
Thanks again Marisa.
I have been kind of doing it that way, so i guess i should continue. I'm begining to recognise the ones that do well, and those that don't do so well. So i've been going back trying to improve on my older (and awful!)hubs that seem to have potential.
Thanks for the enlightenment.
To get large amounts of traffic, you have to attract people via search engines like Google.
That means your Hub needs to be about a subject people are searching for. Take a look at your Hubs and ask yourself how many people are searching for sites on those topics.
They don't really.
They just tell you they do.
..because you will be too busy helping me !?!?!?
no.. judging by my Adsense revenue, I will need exclusive, round the clock tutoring
We praise Jesus and any god that happens to walk by, because we are Hubbers and we are the way of the light.....
Or we just search the hubpages site for informative hubpages by some top class hubbers and apply what we learn!
based on your other forum questions i would say -
Your asking the wrong question here...
the surest way is to stay out of the forums and use the search function to begin your journey of knowledge.
all of your questions have been answered 1000's of times in 1000's of ways.

i have a series under the 60dc title that i tried to cover most of this on..
peter above is probably being modest as he is very knowledgeable in seo - but he gives you a big clue - write topics that people want to read - use keyword research and your eyes to discover what that may be
for money making topic selection must be a bit more precise
You don't always need BIG traffic, you need TARGETTED traffic. If I get 5 visits a day to a hub then I am pleased. 10 visits is a success.
Also you should DUMB DOWN. This has been a revelation for me.
Most people aren't rocket scientists. Many people don't have English as a first language. A lot of people search for things using very basic search terms. Keep it simple!
True, but a lot of people search very stupidly. I am often amused, astonished and dismayed to see the raw stupidity that was behind many a search that landed at my site.
I have an on-site search engine there and can sometimes see a sequence of pathetic attempts to find something. From their search strings, I can see exactly what they really wanted and wish it were real time and that I could yell at them and say "Stop adding all that unrelated junk and you'd have what you want in an instant!"
But no, on they go, bumbling along and sometimes they never do find their answer. They write short stories into the search box, sad little novellas of their frustrations that will give them far too many matches.
When you search, always start with the shortest possible phrase, even one word. Add more only if you need to after seeing the results from your first attempt. Don't start your search with a paragraph or a sentence.
This is a good thing to keep in mind. Also, shorter sentences, shorter capsules.
It's awfully hard to dumb down your language when you're writing on a medical or highly technical subject, though. But I need to keep looking for ways to improve.
This thread has lots of good info. People here really are helpful and friendly.
As for me, I just keep plodding along doing everything one is supposed to do. As long as I keep enjoying it, I’ll keep doing it.
PS. A note to google. I’ve written 2 hubs fairly recently. Wake up and index them, will ya?
For me it is unique content and keywords, I don't know how I do it , but it just happens.

I've read a lot about the importance of doing keyword research, but then you also get the impression that to really do that research properly can take a long time unless you get lucky early on or really know what you are doing. So I wonder, with some people pumping out huge amounts of hubs, are...

So the other day I was looking for a vegetarian gravy recipe. I decided to type my google search as 'hubpages vegetarian gravy recipe' to do some random hubber a favour and give them a viewing, which I also left open on my laptop in the kitchen for a good 15 minutes, thereby doing them another...
