Is it me or are the threads getting boring?

I'm hanging about waiting for my daughter to have her baby delivered and thought I'd catch up with a few hubbers.  However,it's a real boring night and might as well be a Sunday, there is so much God and incomprehensible politics.  What would be the funniest topic to get you posting?

Hmm funny you should mention that-- we have got the Unofficial Feedback thread with no religion or politics so far.
    http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/49295

And you are waiting for a grandbaby??? How can you think about anything else?  Let us know about the arrival.

Yeah, I checked it out Rochelle and it made me laugh.  Unfortunately, I'm too thick to understand Feedback correctly so didn't feel able to contribute.  I really think you need to write that hub and enlighten me.  I guess being a bit dense maybe the reason some of the above leave me cold.  Thanks for the posting though.

There does seem to be a change in tenor recently... Hopefully, it’s only temporary.

LOL. We could talk about which frequent poster to the Religion and/or Politics Forums we secretly have crushes on smile.
It's not like they will come over here and notice.
Come to think of it, that could be the shortest thread EVER (coming in at 3 -- you, Rochelle and me!)

BTW, congratulations on becoming a grandma. What a lovely event to be waiting for! Wishing your daughter a speedy delivery. MM

That's really nice of you.  Little William arrived 5 mins ago.  Been on hooks, what with living in a different country and all.  This is my 3rd grandchild so I should be an old lag.  I think secret crush on Religion and Politics  thread would be brilliant.  I have several!

Jesus did not believe in UFO's?  I mean what kind of a thread is that?  I can't think of any thing to contribute that wouldn't seem rude or disrespectful!

Go right ahead Kathryn.  I mean...you can't take that seriously after all, can you?

I don't usually go to the Religion forum either, but I put in a smartass comment in one thread, and no one seemed to mind.  In fact, it seemed my comment sort of hi-jacked the thread in a more amusing direction.

Try it.  If anyone's offended, that's their problem, isn't it. smile

      btw...congrats on the grandson.

Cheers timorous, might just take your advice and glad there is a fellow hubber who sneaks in smartass comments on the 'serious' threads.  (Greekone does some corkers as does Shadesbreath and Blondepoet.  Oh and Mightymom)

Congratulations on the arrival of your grandchild.  That is exciting and definitely miles and miles ahead of anything that has been happening on the forums.

Religion and Politics just seem to trigger my 'sarcastic identity' so I withhold my communication.  Glad I'm not the only one that is finding the 'going to hell in a hand cart' topics a bit much.

Hope you get to see your new little one soon!

Thanks raisingme, off on 13th August to visit the grandkids.  Sarcasm flows through my veins, (as they know only too well and weirdly they like it.  Must be chips off the old block), so I too give those forums a miss until I can't resist a little peak.

Kathyrn you are absolutely right, it has gotten a bit boring. Everything is about religion and politics. I wouldn't mind hearing about some movies or songs but those are boring too, lol.. I wouldn't mind talking about the old movies and songs.

I try to keep the Political & Religious forums interesting, until the hubpages team bans me. Everybody tunes in to see what I'm going to say next to get booted off of hupgages again. I'm going to stay calm until the political season heats up a little more. All of my hubs have been written from the heart, instead of, for money. Then you have to use Key Words and write about topics you think people will click on, and it's just another job, very boring job. That's great for real writers! It pays the rent for them. When I get the time, I'm going to try that 100 hubs challenge, after that I'm sure I'll be hooked on just making money too. Right now, I'm hooked on the forums!

What did the forums used to be about when it wasn't so boring?  what did ppl talk about then?

When blondepoet used to frequent the forums, all kinds of things happened and you never knew where it would all go for sure!

This is very true.  Take the point that perhaps the boring subjects were always there, it's just the hi-jacking threads used to be so hilarious and I miss some of the contributors.

Doesn't Blondepoet visit the forums any more? That would be a shame.

Must be the dog days of summer. neutral

Some of the more amusing Hubbers (like Blondepoet and kimberlyslyrics) aren't spending much time here lately.  This too shall pass...you'll see. smile

it comes and goes in cycles. I see that mega1 got banned for 'being' mean to another poster. LOL Don't know much about that yet. Must have been a good one. I remember a lot of drama this past year. Lots. I won't mention them. But it can be quite entertaining at times.

I guess it all depends on what you consider "boring."  I generally consider idle chitchat or extended online bantering and flirting boring, although I'm occasionally in the mood for it in tiny doses.

    1. profile image0
Kathryn LJposted 14 years agoin reply to this

This is true, however the Greek one, who is this guy? really was quite entertaining and gave some of the funny hubbers a chance to shine.  More of this kind of thing would be an antidote to the worthy navel gazing.

From some of the responses I have seen on many threads here, it appears hubpages has some of, if not the brightest thinking minds on the Internet. Boring depends on what you get bored with.

  15. camlo profile image81
    camloposted 14 years ago

Well, the threads tonight were so boring, I actually ended up posting a message on a religious thread, which I never, ever usually do. It was the one about Jesus, Moses and Buddha not believing in UFOs ... now there's entertainment for you!

Kathryn LJposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Yeah, I looked at that one in the hope that it was some kind of joke.  It was but not the funny kind.  Still at least it wasn't a lame excuse for gay bashing bigotry!

  16. donotfear profile image85

I've noticed also that the forums aren't as lively. Just need some funny/crazy stuff.  The flirt threads are cool & funny. Then there was the 'greatest lie' thread. I thought that was good.  Maybe I can come up with something. I get tired of politics & religion forums. I want something either really interesting or fun or flirty.

Hi Kathryn, there are more threads which are nice to read even if you don't respond or give comments like the advices on how to backlink, earn etc. Yes I missed blondepoet too. Congrats for being a grandmom.

Maybe I'll go over to YouTube or something ...
