Your adsense earnings are a function of how many Hubs you make and the type.  I know of a few authors that are earning over $1K per month from Adsense on HubPages.

Wow Paul, I guess I shouldn't brag about the $113 check I just got from Adsense after having an adsense account for 3 years. I wonder what they are doing that I'm not doing.

I imagine it depends on your content material. For example, I've only written seven hubs so far: two poems, one each on the distinction between two words, the benefits of being single, the most effective way to get out of obesity and into health, the key to happiness and a rant against online 'get rich quick schemes'.

Over half of those are not topics that people are likely to be looking for in a search engine. The hubs that are going to generate the most money are those that get the most interest from the average person surfing the net. The ones who are making over a thousand a month? They probably have written a good number of high interest pieces that will display ads people who come to the site would want to invest in.

I think so long as your content is original and unique that someone somewhere will go searching for it, find it, and yours will be the highest ranked in a keyword search that has very little competition.

Having done websites since 2000 I'm amazed at some of the things some people search for when I'd check my stats and what's come up in the "Search String" stats.
