Just how prudish is google?

I published a hub a few days ago (a humorous one) and google seems to have taken offence at hat I've written because there are NO ads on the it.

How pure does our language have to be?

very pure or poor spelling, either one seems to work.

Thanks DMNM.  I think the spelling is fine so I doubt that's the problem.  I even Americanized the spelling - well as much as I understand what changes are required.

no I mean...if you spell the naughty words wrong they won't get picked up.  smile  I don't have adsense myslef, as I don't write about very saleable things. So maybe I am wrong here....I do know I have read that some people have had a difficult time with the ads situation, like....if you say "when purchasing a dog, it is important to research what sex and breed wil be the right choice for you." and if you go on like that for a bit, ads might get pulled. Im like 75 percent sure I read that the staff will review decisions made by the google bot, and if it was something like the above example, ads come back.

lol - I see what you mean about spelling naughty words.  Well I don't have any swear words in this hub either.

              Yes, I hope so too.

Its really annoying because I've had quite a few hits and many readers have rated it up - thats very nice but doesn't make me any $$$.

If ads are removed that is a HubPages action not a Google one.  You should ask support.

Are there just blank spots where the ads should be? Sometimes it takes Google a few days to figure out what to put on a hub.

I had my best one go two weeks with no ads before they finally showed up. It happens sometimes. smile

I think Google is flicked since I see questionable singles ads on a lot of my new and some old hubs.....roll

On Blogspot words like sex or erotic get public domain ads put up because the Adsense spider flags them. Here, Hubpage staff are the ones who decide what constitutes having the ads pulled.

    Your newest hub has ads

Thanks for your comments everyone.  Due to the time zone differences I've just surfaced for the day!

I now have ads on my hub!  Yeah.  It took several days for them to appear which surprised me because they've always appeared very quickly with my other hubs.

There do seem to be double standards at work - Google left China for many reasons but one of the Chinese arguments that is true - is that Google opens the door to unrestricted pornography.

travelespressoposted 7 years agoin reply to this

How's it going up there Chinaman?

I think the issue may have been uncertainty regarding the type of adverts to put on the hub.  Nothing else seems to make sense to me.  The worst word in the hub is "wedgie" and I can't imagine that's sufficiently risqué to ban adverts.

I have to laugh at the ads that 'pop' up - my hubs are crowded with religious message ads - that nobody ever clicks on big_smile

Shame about having religious ads that no-one clicks on.  Here's hoping you get something more appropriate for your top hubs China man.

That's the hub?  The one I linked to?  Oh, the horror of it all!  I even used that same terribly naughty word! yikes

It sounds like it is taken care of, though - always a good thing.

Yep Wilderness - that's the hub!

You used the very naughty word and so did Stan in his Killer Ideas for Your Next Hub competition! lol

I'm glad ads are there now.

  11. travelespresso profile image81

The ads have disappeared from my hub again!  They went AWOL a few days ago and as of a minute ago were still unsighted.
    Why is this?
