My ZipCode hub dropped WAY down to a 39 while I was gone. I've been gone for about 4-5 hours. Why would it have done this?
Thanks,
ProCW
Ouch? Well, I think it might have to do with the traffic and content maybe? I really don't know, I would love to hear an answer for this that someone is sure of.
Sad to say, but it is one of the highest-traffic-hubs that I have so far. I dunno... I want to know if I should just delete it. I sent Maddie an e-mail a while ago, but haven't gotten a response yet.
ProCW
Well, it will be interesting none the less to find out. I don't think you should deleted it imo though, but if it gets a lot of traffic and comments and stuff then I think it should reflect the right Hubscore.
Yeah, I'd like to know exactly why it has plummeted. To see it go from the 70s to the 30s... its disheartening. It's from a request that I answered. I realize there isn't a great deal of content in it, but the request was to explain zip codes. I did that - people liked what I put. I dunno... again, just quite disheartening.
Maybe I've just been spending too much time on here... maybe I expect more than a score like that.
Maybe I should spend more time working on the websites I bought instead of messing around on here... I just don't feel that a score like that is in anyway reflective of the time that I put into it... and for it to just drop so quickly... I'm kind of - I don't even know what the right word is, so I'll stick with upset.
Thanks for responding thranax.
Is Maddie not moderating today? She's usually a pretty quick responder.
It's the weekend.. She'll probably answer Monday. HP usually doesn't answer emails during the weekend.
The drop could have been from unoriginal content. That's the only reason I've seen a hub plummet like that. I'm not saying that is the case, but it's the only reason I've ever seen.
Definitely don't delete the hub. You shouldn't really delete a hub unless you are unsatisfied with the quality of the hub.
It is original. I wrote it. I got the info from the usps.gov site; but I wrote the content. I'm quite a bit unsatisfied with the actual score... I wrote it on the second day that I was here, so I realize that I didn't know all of the Hub-protocol, etc... but it was to answer a request... I did the research and relayed the information that I found.
ProCW
I understand being unsatisfied with the score, but the quality of the hub. I'm not saying copied content, but unoriginal as though it's a covered topic all over the web. I dunno, that's just the only thing I've ever see a score plummet like that. Maddie would be the one who could help you though, not necessarily Charlotte. ;-) I'm sure Maddie will email you back Monday when she gets the email.
Edit: I just checked out the hub in question. It could be the listing of zip codes that's setting something off. I dunno...
Its just odd to me. I get what you're saying... but still... it was a request that I answered for a fellow hubber - and I was new. HubPages has many things that it can improve on, as do I, as does everything else... BUT I could definitely see how another hubber would leave from that. I'm just sayin'... I do kind of take this as a slap in the face though... I guess it's good that I have a semi-high pain tolerance!!
I wish someone from Hubpages would respond too... Paul?
I'm getting over it and am actually finding it a bit funny now... Whitney...thanks for responding. I think that I'm going to have a big glass of...
iced tea. want some? i'll be back in a few...
BTW... the only reason I was requesting gamergirl, is because I trust her advice - she seems quite honest, as do you whitney. I saw that she had posted a few minutes prior and was hoping she was still around.
I believe they all take the weekend off from emails. So it'll be till Monday on average that is...
Honestly, I think that the HP system is pretty good.
Oh, and I was just joking about Charlotte, but Maddie or another HP staff would still be able to answer your question per your hub versus general suspicions and guess from other hubbers.
oh, okay... yeah... i think it is too... i was just frustrated from seeing such a low score... i'm definitely willing to work on the hub and/or delete, whichever is best.
i know what you mean... the horse's mouth is much better than the donkey's... (no offense gamergirl)
thanks whitney!!!! you really are quite nice and i appreciate your honesty!

Gosh, this is what I get for going out to the club last night.
Have you looked at the hub's traffic trends through Analytics? I went ahead and submitted your hub to a couple directories after reading this, but I'd be interested to know if it's a sharp decline in traffic or a slow trickling effect.
One thing you may consider is adding more content to the hub, like what factors go into changing an area's zip code, how US zip codes compare to other countries, that kind of thing, and then tag appropriately.
The other bit of advice I have is: be patient! It may have just been a bad day for zip codes in the search bar, to be honest.
I do agree with Whitney, though - if you feel like your Hub has been penalized for some reason, it never hurts to ask Hubpages staff what's up. I believe you can send an email to team@hubpages.com with questions/concerns, they're usually pretty fast about answering emails from Hubbers.
By the way, it's back up to a 54 now.
Why didn't you take me to the club with you?????
I haven't really used analytics too much. I have glanced over it before and am looking at it again now. Thank you for submitting me to some sites! I'll let you know more about the analytics when I figure it out more.
Thank you for recommending some things to me. I'll try them when I get a chance.
I'm patient... I understand that it takes some time... I just thought it was odd to see a 39... btw it went down to a 38 later... is there a hubber that wants to see this page's score drop? i dunno....
I sent an e-mail to team@...com and am awaiting a response. Whitney seems to think they don't answer weekend e-mails.
Its at 55 now... getting back up a little ... bit by bit...
Thank you very much for your reply... lemme ask you something again...
Why didn't you take me to the club?

I know answering requests improves scores but answering our own request does it also improve or on the contrary does it decrease the score(and also does it go against the convention here at hubpages)?I am asking this question for this particular request and also for a couple of other requests I...

I thought that the questions would be adding to the hub, thereby making the hub rank better for certain terms. However, that's not the case from what I see. The questions show on the page but not the answers, so the content of the answer is not really on the page, therefore it does not add to the...

Hi everyone,I'm just starting out in the wonderful world of Hubpages questions and answers. I've had a look through the help centre and only found a little info....basically that Q&A's are meant to be a very mini hub type thing, where you can earn the 60% for all views on your Question and...

Hi Everyone!I just noticed my hubscore jumped to 90 over night! I only have 4 hubs? I'm still a bit confused about how this all works. I've looked at MANY hubs the last few days about how to raise hubscores, what they are and etc etc, and from what I understand its a culmination of what you write...

Do you add content to your worst-performing Hub or your best to make it even better? Do you add content to the low-scoring Hubs before the high scorers? What else do you think when you decide when or if to add content to a Hub?

Just had a big drop on my profile score. And all my hubs were featured along with a steady 10 Editors Choice. I say 'were' because 3 were just unfeatured and I don't know what to do about that. My views are over 945,000. Boo-hoo. Hubpages doesn't love me anymore!
