A chatroom has a different dynamic then a forum.
Most of the time chatrooms lean towards frivolous banter. And forum threads can do that too, but they don't have the urgency or the need to be on hand monitoring what is being said.
A lot of people do enjoy them but while I can quite possibly rack up thousands of forum posts I'd not be likely to avail myself to the use of a chatroom.
I doubt we will see a chatroom anytime soon. Doesn't bother me, I am quite happy with the forum. The only comment I would make is that the forum is under utilised so I would like to see more hubbers using it. I'm sure the Hub staff would too.
Yes there are not many people; sometimes it's better as forums get flamed for people bashing others
The forum is under-utilized?
We need more 1000 reply arguments. Here's a start:
vi or emacs?
cake or pie?
rogues or warlocks?
paper or plastic?
BSD or Slackware?
Have fun!
neither, I prefer vim which is actually based on vi so I guess vi.
cake, because i'm allergic to almost every pie
um..tough question here. I'd choose a warlock because I prefer magicks
paper for sure, you can write and draw on it. plastic without anything to mold it is kinda useless.
no preference here, never tried either.
and about a chatroom, well we can always get our own IRC room but i'm guessing that's not what the topic starter means?
errr... dunno.
the cake is a lie.
Warlocks, they've always been the most overpowered class in the game. That and a Kara geared Arms warrior can't beat a good warlock, but they can almost always beat a good rogue, if they use their tools right.
Plastic, when paper gets wet it's done for, plastic is good to go!
BSD, IMO.
Needs moar cowbell, also.
and ceiling cat is watching us hub.
Hardly anyone uses the forum, when you consider how many hub authors there actually are on this site, so the idea of a chat room seems rather unnecessary to me.
it's been years since i've tried to chat on the net. how the hell do you do it now i tried to find a simple chat room and unless you want to go to a porn chat i can't find it . i just wanted to talk a bit but hell you can't anymore funcking forum shit . load yahoo messinger and still can't chat what the hell . i don't get it .
The cake is a lie!
Ah, gamergirl, you probably won't even see this because I'm six days late, but that's the best response EVER to "cake or pie"!
Chatrooms are a breeding ground for cybersex and spam, and are much less easily moderated. I say, skip it.
Some chatrooms are cool...hubbers can ya know...talk and get to know each other's interest more, but the forum is cool too. If only more of us would use it, it would be kinda like a chatroom in my opinion.

Chat room for hubbers, is it necessary? Yes/No
by Info Bucket 13 years ago
I've started a chat room for hubber's to connect each other easily. Relache suggested me to start a chat room for hubbers when I posted a Thread on 'Report a problem or Suggest a new feature' forum about starting a chat room for hubpages. If you're interested.....check it out....

Despite not seeing InfoBucket for quite some time, his chatroom is still available:http://hubpageschat.blogspot.com/I hang out there fairly often if anyone wants to chat.Yes I am aware that chat rooms don't work too well, but just letting people know.I personally don't mind hanging out in chatrooms...

How about a Chat box where hubbers can enter and chat to each other.
by R. Blue 15 years ago
I'd like to see Hubpages set up a chatroom for hubbers. I know it might hurt ratings for some people when their hub gets hijacked...but here's what I think. We all like to chat with one another, and hijacking someone's hub happens from frustration at not having an open chat room. ...

Wouldn't it be nice, if hubpages had a small chat box, So we could talk to other brilliant hubbers or anybody in here, instead of waiting for email or forum responses. If at all it is a nonsense of an idea, then i'm not aware of it. It would be nice to see this implemented.
