I am very new here and was wondering if someone could tell me on average how long it take to start getting visits from organic search. I have been here for 4 days, published 4 hubs and all of my traffic has come from hubpages. I know it takes a while I am just wanted to know what your experiances have been and if you have any advise. Thanks!
It all depends. I posted a hub reviewing an internet marketing piece of software yesterday and I've had 60 visits today - about a third from search engine traffic for a term Google keywords said there were no searches for!
But then others languish waiting and waiting... I have no idea why something gets hits quickly and others don't.
I think it takes a few days or more before our hubs get into the Google search engine. As ChuckHuckaby said it all depends. Just concentrate on writing first and then the rest will follow. I hope this helps a little.
Actually your hubs can be indexed in as little as 10 to 20 minutes after publishing. There are many factors to consider when optimizing for organic search, such as competition, search query volume, self promotion, etc...
You really have a little chance to get organic traffic from search engines. Even when your hub get indexed I will be placed on page 1000 for some money worth keyword. All you can do is to post good content or get in SEO (or get someone to do it for you).
In my experience it can take anywhere between 1 hour and a week to get indexed by Google and thus get organic traffic. On average though I would say my hubs seems to start getting organic traffic after about half a day. I have only had one hub where it took over a week for it to find it's way on to Google.
Since you are recently joined you can expect to get organic traffic after 1 week or so. Quality hub with lot of content will get organic hits very quickly.
It can take any amount of time from seriously 30 minutes to several days. That said, that's just BEING in the search engine. You probably won't see those top positions for the keywords you're writing for for 3 - 6 months. In that amount of time, it's good to just keep on writing and producing more and more hubs -- one by one they will be indexed and some may make it to the top, and some might not.
In the meantime, I personally recommend adding more to your hubs. A good hub is more than 300 words long and some of the best ranking hubs are somewhere between 700-1200 words. You also seem to have quite a few links in your hubs. While you appear to be linking to reputable sites (which is a good thing), it seems you have a lot of links, but not a lot of words. A good way to fix this is to describe WHY each site is a good resource, etc... so that you aren't penalized.
There are several good hubs out there that explain how to make a great hub. And there is seriously TONS of advice in the learning center, which you will love!

Hope this helps,
Melanie
I think the keyword selection is very important, provided you pick the right keywords organic search results seem to trickle in much faster from hubpages than any other publishing medium I have found.
I have had organic searches to my hubs in the first few days of publishing them, but since I am new and I have just started writing I don't know much on the subject.

I love HubPages, I feel that I have learned so much here and my confidence in writing non-fiction took such a huge leap when I was invited onto the Apprenticeship program last year. I have met some wonderful people here - both staff and other Hubbers. But as may other people have said, the idling...
