Hi,
I'm still trying to figure out feeds.
So, here's my social issues feed.
http://hubpages.com/tag/sophias+social+issues/hot/?rss
Now, that works fine for HP. But it doesn't work for feedburner or any other feed outside of HP.
What do I have to insert or detract for it to be accepted?
Thanks.
Have you tried removing the slash between "hot" and "?rss" ?
Thats the only odd thing I see in the URL...
Okay, thanks. I'll try it. Do you think I should remove the word 'hot' as well?
You need to include "hot", "best" or "latest" for the feed to work...
Okay, I've just posted it to feedburner and pinged it. So I'm just going to check if it works.
Edweirdot, no, it doesn't post to Twitter, so I'm not sure it's working. Actually, I'm not quite sure what the feed is supposd to do anyway so I wouldn't know if it's working anyway.
Any input?
Thanks much appreciated
I don't know about posting a feed to Twitter - I never tried that...
If you want to know more about RSS, I wrote 2 hubs about it
I think I've read them. When one submits a feed to feedburner, what does feedburner do with it? That's what I don't understand
Okay, I've just gone tao your site again. This is what you say.
" There also sites out there, called "RSS Aggregators" or "RSS Submission Sites", that will accept your RSS Feed and transmit it for you. That means adding your Feed to all the other Feeds in their system, and then having those Feeds distributed across the Internet as backlinks. And once you submit a Feed, you're done - it's automatically updated each time you publish, so it's a "set it and forget it" scenario."
I don't understand where this. Do you mean that these sites have o thousands of other feeds on their websites. If so, what happens to them? Do people go to to those websites to look for feeds?
Edweirdo, I've just submitted this feed to Feedcat.net and this is what it says:
http://hubpages.com/tag/sophias+metaphy … ed/hot?rss
"Error while getting feed data - this feed is not possible to submit now."
Feedburner lets you take your feed and do stuff with it - like ad Adsense ads and track subscribers. If all you are looking to do is gain backlinks, you do not need to use Feedburner...
The RSS Submission Sites I referred to are sites that accept RSS feeds and then distribute them for you - so instead of visiting dozens of separate sites and submitting your feed, these sites consolidate the submission process so that you submit it once to them and then they spread the feed to all the other sites.
The point is not necessarily to have people find and click on links from your feed, but rather for the feeds to propagate around the Net where search engines will find them, thus providing backlinks to your hubs...
Does that make sense?
Yes, but do I have to have an account with the places where the feeder sends them?
Which sites does the feeder send thm to?
You usually do not need an account, but each site is different. Each site also sends feeds to different places.
Here is a hub by sunforged that has a great list of these sites:
http://hubpages.com/hub/RSS-Submission-Sites-list
Check them out and you will see what each one does...
@Edweirda...
Edweirdo, I've just submitted this feed to Feedcat.net and this is what it says:
http://hubpages.com/tag/sophias+metaphy … ed/hot?rss
"Error while getting feed data - this feed is not possible to submit now
The link got cut off!
Try reposting and put a space in the http, like ht tp, so that it doesn't get truncated...
http://hubpages.com/tag/sophias+short+stories/hot?rss
Here's another one I posted.
It gives the same messag. I tried putting a space between ht tp but it still said the same thing.
Thanks for all your time, Edweirdo. I appreciat e it.
The RSS feed is valid, and I am not familiar with feedcat, so I don't know what the problem is

I'm trying to understand RSS feeds. I think the capsule is a reader that aggreates feeds from other websites, but I'm not sure

I really can't point any of you to the many discussions there were about whether RSS feeds that display our own Hubs in a specific Hub of ours are a violation of the HP rules or not.I read info that the "best", "latest", and "hot" categories were not appropriate to add...

Is it a good idea to submit RSS Feeds to RSS Feed submission sites? If so, which ones are best?

Hey Staff,Please get your moderation team on the same page. I am beginning to get PISSED OFF at their incompetence.Last time I checked, RSS Feeds are allowed to be ON hubs and must be relevant to the HUB.I am getting sick and tired of moderators telling me to DELETE specific links inside RSS Feeds,...
