I am discombobulated and Miffed! Very discombobulated. in fact my discombobulatedness knows no bounds! I have been mulling over this google twaddle, (look out for English speak, it always happens when I am miffed and Discombobulated). and my indignancy is going out the bloomin' window. How dare they say we are one of the websites to be culled? (compared to killed, I suppose it is a bonus!) So now is the time to take British pride in one's bloomin' hands and stand up for our rights! We have the best writers on the internet. There said it! If you look at the other sites, they right a few silly lines and it means nothing, NOTHING! for example, GO TO RIO FOR YOUR VACATION, so you click on it and it says something like this:
Well, it's sorta like a nice place innit?
Duh! that's inteligent. And yet if you check out hubbers and their work it is brilliant I say, Bloomin' Brilliant! we have intelligent writing, facts that are facts and not guess work, and great pictures and links. What is google thinking? so this miffed and discombobulated person is going to keep writing here, even if the ship sails, and I am on a life raft, floating off into the west, or the east.........just had to get it of my bloomin' chest!
I can see penalizing low quality content, but to generalize and reposition an entire domain is a bit shortsighted. Certainly, the good articles will overcome the domain hit, but it doesn't seem very fair to penalize everyone.
We can control the content of our pages, but we can't control the content of the entire domain...Hubpages staff will need to address that.
I feel and share your frustration. My adsense and amazon earnings have dropped as well.
Mine have gone completely for the last couple of days! not a bean!
Nell, I will give you the same advice that I gave Mark last night - have a cup of hot, sweet tea. Nelle has been putting whisky in hers, while I have been slipping in a few drops of brandy!
Mark - go out and have a couple of pints and stop fretting!
Hiya, now that's a thought! I do have a bottle of bailey's somewhere! ha ha
If you look back in history Nell, when the going gets tough the Brits have a few drinks, then a couple more, then one for the road, and then one because it would be rude not to, and then you have to get the round in, and then.....
Not Brit, but thank you for voicing for me. Between computer life and personal life, I'm hanging on here by a thread. But just reading HubPages right now is enough. We've got some awesome talent out there, and I don't care where they are pub'd--they deserve whatever they want! I just want to keep that talent where I am comfortable with it. I love HubPages: the literature is top rate, info amazing, and sooooo much help from people that don't have to share their insights on how and what to do here or anywhere, but want to--the humanitarianism in HubPages is absolutely what? califragilisticexpealedocious!????? Can't believe I finally forgot how to spell it after making myself learn it! I joined HubPages because it was run by a good team: knew that because I was inspired by its hubbers and the abundance of energy, info, and professionalism. Will never reach the heights of some, but if I can reach my own, that's enough for me! Culled? Absolutely not!!! Not anywhere!
That's a good hub right there Nell.
Although you've no chance of getting it past the hub hoppers at present, they're in a frenzy.
Look Nell, it doesn't matter how many times you say discombobulated, it is not going to get on to Google's first page because the whole of hubpages has been google-slapped.
Brilliant word! I had to go look it up
Nell, I love the word discombobulated, reminds me of the Black Adder dictionary episode - which is going back a bit.
Gave me a smile this Sunday afternoon and that's always welcome.
Being Google-slapped. Kind of like when you slap a hysterical person to snap them back into reality. Google is going to do what it is gong to do and we can't change that. But we can change the quality of HubPages by team work and not depending totally on the staff. The staff could implement changes that will improve HP by using hubbers to police content. But hub hopping will not be enough.
The crap will have to be weeded out before it gets published. HP can no longer accept 50 word hubs, period. New hubbers should go through a screening process, their hubs read and pass/failed by a select group of quality hubbers who will cooperate because they want to see HP succeed. It is in all our best interests.
I LOVE that idea, Dolores! But I'm afraid that peer okays would be troublesome-you know, sitting in 'judgement' over other potential Hubbers might be met with criticism. Who knows?
You could not just have everybody do it - only a select group. People who would not fail new hubbers for purely personal reasons but hubbers that could be trusted to have HP's best interests at heart. We all are always being judged. Our hubs are being judged by Google and the search engines. The time for everything is okay and it's a big free-for-all is over.
Hopefully, Google's new algo will offer us more informative, helpful info when we use Google to search for advise and whatnot instead of a lot of the crap I've run into when I am looking for something.
Well..., at least google is still indexing our forum posts.

Aww, so HP is also part of the new "bad sites" thing google has?
I'm still going to stick to HP but I'd figure that with the hub hopping, google would realize that many hubbers want to keep the site useful.
Maybe HP should have a "clean up" week where they encourage all people to flag the poor content.
Anyone know if Helium was affected? Since they require rates, I imagine they probably get more stuff flagged and therefore keep the quality up. Not saying HP should do that, but maybe there should be more to engage people to go flagging.

I am always surprised that guest blogging is never discussed on HubPages. We all know it's important to have backlinks pointing to our Hubs and websites. We also know that Google is working hard to detect and devalue links which are artificially created - things like directory...

We all appreciate that it's our own responsibility to protect our own work, but it's a big job, and it's in HubPages interest to help us, because plagiarism affects the whole site's income. On another thread, there have been several suggestions of features HubPages could add. So far we have:-...

Hello all my fellow hubbers, hope you all are fine and enjoying your work!!This is my first forum topic and i hope i am able to explain myself well here- as to what i intend to ask you all.My question is: I read somewhere on the internet that if you want to drive maximum traffic to your main...

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

I know I'm starting another lost traffic thread, (geesh, enough already), but...Here's why. As it has been noted, HP has suffered, site-wide - all of us - even the touted success stories, traffic loss due to Google's year-long algo changes. That's the BIG problem that is almost only solvable by...

Any sense at how Google's war against content farms will affect Hubpages?http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/2 … -sites/?hpObviously there is a huge difference between the quality of most hubs and answers.com or eHow.com. I guess it is quite early to know, given that even pages...
