    I am not quitting.

I am just going to continue doing what I have been doing.  Hubpages makes up about 20% of my online income and is an important piece of the puzzle.  From the looks of my stats report, my traffic is only down slightly anyway.  I am definitely nowhere near panic mode..yet. lol

I love the site, I trust the site.  Trudging forward.

Edited to add:  A few years back Squidoo experienced a similar situation with Google and I didn't quit then either.  Squidoo came back strong.  Hubpages will, too.

And to quote Sergeant Thomas Highway in Heartbreak Ridge...

Let the quitters quit. Those of us who are still here will take up the slack.

I will not quit either.  I plan to keep on doing what I have been doing as well.  My traffic is down a bit, but I am still earning money, and the more I do, the more it will grow.

I love writing here, and I frankly do not see why anyone would consider leaving over this event.

    Hey! The Traffic is returning!

    see http://www.quantcast.com/hubpages.com

    so are the others!

    http://www.quantcast.com/articlesbase.com

BUT it appears that quality hubs are being hit just as hard as the poorer quality ones. - That's a Worry!

"Edmondson said in a statement, adding that had the algorithm worked as Google wanted it to, he would have expected to see HubPages content with higher "HubScores" ranked more prominently in search results. "While we welcome changes that improves quality, and we hold our authors to the highest UGC (user-generated content) standards--much more comprehensive and strict than Google's YouTube. We feel that too much high quality content is suffering as part of this update."

    see: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13577_3-20037 … z1FMiMKFHq

This suggests that a universal penalty has been applied to Hubpages, which is disturbing.

Squidoo  has bounced back in a big way !!!!!

      http://www.quantcast.com/squidoo.com

      Why?

Despite the claims to the contrary (see below) is appears that Google has applied a downgrading penalty to a hit list of sites.

"It’s worth noting that this update does not rely on the feedback we’ve received from the Personal Blocklist Chrome extension, which we launched last week. However, we did compare the Blocklist data we gathered with the sites identified by our algorithm, and we were very pleased that the preferences our users expressed by using the extension are well represented. If you take the top several dozen or so most-blocked domains from the Chrome extension, then this algorithmic change addresses 84% of them, which is strong independent confirmation of the user benefits."
