Can someone recommend me to some one that can explain the basics of hubpages and what most use it for. I would appreciate all the help i can get thanks

You can put more text and links to your profile if you need to, or do several other things - it all depends on your overall goals on the Internet...
In general people use HP:
- to hang out with intelligent people
- to get publicity
- to make some money
- to get backlinks
- to get traffic
or any combination of those
It can mean a number of things, but on this site it usually means HubPages
